Eczema clinical types
Acute eczema
• It causes Acute eczema• Erythematic • Edema• Papules• Vesiculation• Oozing• Crusting• Itching• Site of contact• Direct corrosive effect
Sub-acute eczema• Mild oedema• Mild erythema• Few vesicles• Papules• Minimal ozone• Crust• Moistness beneath the
crust• Itching
Chronic eczema
• Pigmentary change• Thickness• Increased skin
markings• Papulations• Severe itching
Eczema: Erythema, Edema, Papule, Vesicle, Oozing, Excoriation, Fissuring, Lichenification
How to treat?
• Corticosteroid :- topical and systemic
• Steroid spearing agent:-
What about >10% BSA and >10% BSA rule deciding topical/systemic in Eczema?
What is our observation?
• Topical is often inadequate- indurated lesions• Recurs soon, if the treatment is sopped before
subsidence of induration• Best way of maintenance is steroid
What about Emollients?
• If ichthyotic changes are present.
