• Too long: you’ve got about 10-seconds• Burying the lead

(great experience / talent @ bottom of page)• Not up to date• Not specific to job posting• Misleading or false (they’ll find out eventually)• Filled with fluff

Professional Development Assignment Deliverables

1. Job/internship posting Must include: Date posted Company name / contact info Minimum qualifications Description of job (activities, responsibilities, etc.)

2. Resume for that posting 1 page minimum Print out or pdf

3. Critique from classmate Signed / dated copy of rough draft Must include corrections & comments

4. Cover Letter ½ to 1 page in length Formatted properly Print out or pdf

5. List of References I will not contact them Know who you would include if this were real

• Either a job you want “now” Internship this summer or next Part-time work during school year
