What conventions do they follow

In this shot the camera slowly pans into the artists, which is to bring focus onto him.

In the music video there are not a lot of quick cuts. In this case there is a lot of slow tracking and slow panning, which goes in sync with music, as it’s a very slow paced.

Close ups are commonly used, and this shot here displays it. The lightning in the mise en scene, is bright and harsh looking, as the location in the hospital. The bright harsh lighting is commonly used to highlight the emotion on the artists face, and also to set the atmosphere.

How is gender, race, class, age etc. addressed?

In this shot, it shows the artists looking sad. Here he is represented as the one who is vulnerable, as opposed to his other music videos, where it is usually the female.
