ABOUT US
WHAT IS GELATINE?
Gelatine is a natural protein source with a high molecular weight.
A valuable protein is used in widely in the food industry such as
confectionery, sweets, dairy products, meat products, sauces and
soups, drinks, baked goods. However, for customers it is critically
important to produce the gelatine under controlled conditions with
specific preferences and carefully monitoring its source.
Animal resources used in the production of gelatine may vary from
country to county depending on each community’s beliefs and
mindset. Therefore traceability of raw materials has been our
primary mission.
QUALITY & APPLICATION AREAS
Halavet applied ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management System and ISO
22000:2005 Food Safety Management System in the production stage.
In addition, production is made according to European Union
Directives EC No.853/2004 and EC No.2073/2005 regulations in the
framework of EU compliance criteria. Our company shows interest and
precision in the supply of raw materials as well as manufacturing
stages and maintains traceability criteria above world standards
with investments it has made in the industry. Also certification is
made by TSE according to TSE OIC/SMIIC 1 standards. Halavet
Gelatine has BRC-A grade and GMP certificates as well.
Gelatine with its extremely low calorific value and high protein
content is an essential nutrient for everyone who cannot intake
daily requirements of protein from other sources, developing
children, athletes and workers performing works requiring high
effort and muscle power. Gelatine is not a food addictive. It is an
important component adding new and different features to products
it is used. There are no restrictions about utilization rate of
gelatine, benefits and features contributes to product are limited
with required rate. Other areas of use of uses of gelatine that are
applied widely in the world can briefly be summarized as
follows:
• Provides Forming • Emulsifier • Crystallization editor •
Stabilizer • Gelling agent • Binding agent • Film-forming •
Creaming agent • Clarification agent • Protective colloidal
structure • Thickening • Bonding agent

Collagen is the most abundant protein in the human body, found in
the bones, muscles, skin and tendons.
Collagen is the most abundant protein in the human body, found in
the bones, muscles, skin, and tendons. In most collagens, the
molecules are packed together to form long, thin fibrils. These act
as supporting structures and anchor cells to each other. They give
the skin strength and elasticity.
FACTS • Collagen occurs throughout the body, but especially in the
skin, bones, and connective tissues. • Some types of collagen
fibrils, gram-for-gram, are stronger than steel. • Collagen
production declines with age and exposure to factors such as
smoking and UV light. • Collagen can be used in collagen dressings,
to attract new skin cells to wound sites. • Cosmetic lotions that
claim to increase collagen levels are unlikely to do so, as
collagen molecules are too large to be absorbed through the
skin.
ROLES Collagen is secreted by various cells, but mainly by
connective tissue cells. It is found in the extracellular matrix.
This is an intricate network of macromolecules that determines the
physical properties of body tissues. A macromolecule is a molecule
containing a large number of atoms. With age, collagen weakens,
leading to wrinkles and cartilage problems.
In the dermis, or the middle layer of skin, collagen helps form a
fibrous network of cells called fibroblasts, upon which new cells
can grow. It also plays a role in replacing and restoring dead skin
cells.
Some collagens act as protective coverings for delicate organs in
the body, such as the kidneys.
With age, the body produces less collagen. The structural integrity
of the skin declines. Wrinkles form, and joint cartilage weakens.
Women experience a dramatic reduction in collagen synthesis after
menopause. By the age of 60 years, a considerable decline in
collagen production is normal.
