WHAT’S THIS ALL ABOUT?

Edinburgh is the inspiring capital city of Scotland where historic buildings are heavily present from the Old Town which was in existence until the late 18th century. Now the wonderful architecture is a backdrop against the cosmopolitan lifestyle.

A city break to Edinburgh can be full of exciting trips, historical walks and nights out but it doesn’t have to cost a fortune.

The city centre is compact and bursting with things to do allowing visitors to pack a lot in during their stays.

ATTRACTIONS

We’ve selected our top 10 things to see and do in Venice:

• Arthur’s Seat: Not many capital cities can say they have an extinct volcano at the heart of their city. Head to Holyrood Park which is located not far from Edinburgh Castle either in the early morning to view the sunrise or for an afternoon stroll.

• Edinburgh Castle: Edinburgh Castle casts a medieval shadow over the city. Inside there are many intriguing artefacts but equally the view of the castle and of the city is worthwhile to see – especially at night.

• Scotch Whisky Experience: Take your tongue on a taste journey with the Scotch Whisky Experience in a replica distillery, to become part of the whisky making process.

WEATHER

Edinburgh’s is generally quite unpredictable with a maritime climate. January and February are generally the coldest months, with the daytime maximum temperatures ranging from 5ºC to 7ºC.

July and August are usually the warmest months, with temperatures averaging at 19ºC and in our opinion is one of the most pleasant times to visit – although unfortunately, it is also the most expensive period.

CLOTHING

As the saying goes, ‘there’s no such thing as bad weather, only the wrong clothes!’, so whenever you travel, make sure you pack accordingly.

Winter coats, scarves and gloves are advisable for the winter months. With weather so unpredictable during the summer, it is advisory that you bring layers that can be easily added or removed.
