Boys Team Spotlight The Varsity Boys Team is off to a
phenomenal start to their season. Key
players this season have been Stuart
Marshburn, Grayson Hardy, James Curnow,
Daniel Graves, Houston Funk and Miles
Miller.
Certainly, some of their success can be
contributed to Coach Miller who has been
coaching for 27 years – 3 of those with the
Cavaliers.
Coach Miller says that he tries to instill in
his team the values of hard work and
applying your best effort. His moto for the
team is "Every effort is my best effort". This
means that continual improvement is a
lifelong goal.
Coach Miller states that he is particularly
excited about seeing this group of boys find
their own identity as a family and see that
translate into on court success.

Girls Team Spotlight The Varsity Girls Team is beginning their
season with an impressive 5-1 record. Key
players to keep an eye on this season include
Captain Molly Landis as well as Carrigan
Hovey, Caroline Lamb, and Zoe Wickiser.
Coach Canney brings to the team over 15
years coaching experience. In addition to
coaching Basketball he has coached
Baseball, Track, and Cross Country. He
enjoys coaching because it is an opportunity
to help students accomplish the mission of
NCS which is “to present our students
complete in Christ”.
The thing that makes the Cavaliers an
excellent team is that these girls work on
their game year round. Plus they love the
Lord and love each other.

Pre-K News
And He said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God
with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your
mind.’ This is the great and foremost commandment. The
second is like it, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’
On these two commandments depend the whole Law and
the Prophets.” (Matthew 22:37-40)
God’s faithfulness and hand of blessing
continues to be very evident each day. The fall
semester has flown by like it normally does. It
was filled with lots of fun and sweet memories.
Here is a recap of what our preschoolers were
up to during the Fall months:
September: This is the month where the
routine starts to settle in and we all get into the
school groove. We had a visit from a
Beekeeper, Mr. James Ott. The students love
this visit because Mr. Ott brings all of his
equipment, honey for us to taste and a bee hive
filled with bees. This is the month we get
to show our school
spirit by dressing
up for Spirit Week;
pajama day is
always a favorite!
October: We hosted our first Safety
Awareness Day in October this year. It was a
wonderful hands-on learning experience. We
had visits from the ambulance, police car
and helicopter! Yes, the helicopter landed in
the front yard of the school!!!
For Reformation Day,
we ministered to our
neighbors at Brookdale
(Assisted Living
Facility beside our
school). We did a
costume parade with
our book buddy classes
in the halls at
Brookdale. Such a
sweet time of
encouragement to give
smiles to the residents
at Brookdale!
November: We are a people who are
abundantly blessed because of our Redeemer
and the salvation He has given to us! Our
annual Thanksgiving Program was a sweet
time of giving thanks to our Lord. Our
Preschoolers sang a medley of Thanksgiving
Songs and one of them was a song of Psalm
105:1-3. God desires for us to make His
name known and for us to find our joy in
Him. Hearing the students sing these praises
to God brings tears to my eyes every time.
December: CHRISTMAS!!!!
Such a fun time of year! And
we have the greatest thing to
celebrate - Jesus’ birth! Our
almighty God humbled
Himself by coming in the
form of a baby to then many
years later die on the cross
and take the punishment for
our sins. What a delight to be
in a school where we get to
teach the real meaning of
Christmas!!

NCS EVENTS
SOIL Campaign
Preschool Our preschoolers actually worked hard the
whole week to prepare for this special day. We
painted flower pots, planted succulent plants
in them and then delivered the plants to our
neighbors at Brookdale. We also sang
Christmas songs to the residents as well. What
a delight to bring such JOY to the residents
and staff during this joyous time of year. The
smiles on the faces of the residents was a
priceless gift! And through our Day of Service
our young students were able to learn that you
can minister to others no matter your age.
We are grateful for how the Lord has provided
for our school through our SOIL project this
year. We appreciate all who contributed time,
service, and your financial resources to make
this Mission project/fundraiser a success!
December 8 was our SOIL (Serve Others
In Love) Day of Service. It was a very
cold and the forecast said snow was on it's
way, but that didn't stop a morning full of
service.
Upper School All upper school classes served in local
organizations in Anderson including
Lights of Hope, AIM, and Meals on
Wheels. One group of students prepared
and delivered freezer meals to our
widows.
Grammar School Our grammar school classes also
ministered to widows and shut ins, and
packed emergency meals for Meals on
Wheels to deliver when hot meals cannot
be prepared. Our Kindergarten class
visited the fire station and shared some
Christmas cheer with them.

2018 is upon us and with it comes the promise
of great academic and spiritual growth and
change both personally and within New
Covenant School family as a whole. In order to
celebrate these changes we’ve re-launched the
New Covenant School Newsletter – the
Cavalier Chronicle.
Each month of the remainder of our school year
you will find a senior spotlight and highlights
from the previous month. The newsletter will
also spotlight families, upcoming events, and
alumi updates.
This is an exciting time for New Covenant as
we continue to live our mission:
“Presenting every student complete in Christ”
(Colossians 1:28).
Joining Our Staff Amanda Nelson, M.Ed. will be joining our staff
as the copywriter for the Cavalier Chronicle.

I first attended New Covenant School in
kindergarten and part of first grade and after
being homeschooled I returned for my eighth
grade year. The past five years at New Covenant
have been an amazing opportunity to grow in
both my education and my faith. I feel that my
classes have instilled the necessary skills for
college life both in academics and in the ability
to think for myself and be firm in my doctrine
and faith. One particular class that I enjoyed
taking was Omnibus. This class was a
combination of class discussion and lecture,
and it allowed me to debate and defend what I
believe. While I did not necessarily enjoy the
work load, the Omnibus class gave me life skills
that will help me when I am no longer in the
Christian environment which I am in right now.
While attending New Covenant I’ve been given
the ability to enjoy many extracurricular
activities. I was in the dramatic productions
Arsenic and Old Lace, Death by Design, Wait
until Dark, and Harvey. I was also involved
in sports including a year of Cross
Country and three years of varsity basketball. I
hope to attend Clemson University in the fall. I
pray that I will be able to use the knowledge and
Biblical teachings which I received while
attending New Covenant to further the kingdom
of Christ in both my words and actions.
