CHRISTMAS–THE

BLESSINGS OF

GOD’S LOVE

“Ah, Lord God, my Holy

L o v e r ! W h e n Th o u

comest into my heart, all

that is within me shall

exult with joy. Thou art

m y g l o r y a n d t h e

exultation of my heart.

Thou art my refuge in the

d a y o f m y

tribulation.” (Thomas à

Kempis, The Imitation of

Christ)

Thomas treasured with all

his heart God’s love for

him. He called God “my

holy Lover.” God’s love

was the pride and joy of

His life. He wrote “The

noble love of Jesus impelsa man to do great things,

and ever excites him to

desire that which is more

perfect.” How similar this

sounds to St Paul’s “the

love of Christ controls

us” (2 Cor 5:14)!

There is nothing in all

creation like the love of

God in Christ. He created

us in His image and gave

us immense resources to

resist temptation. When

we sin, in spite of all, He

grieves with a broken

heart and keeps tugging

at our souls through his

Holy Spirit to return to

Him. When we return in

repentant trust, He always

welcomes us back with

open arms for Jesus’

sake.

What could impel a gifted

person like Thomas àKempis to a monastery to

train beginners in the

monastic order except the

love of God in Christ?

What could transform you

into a humble, faithful,

grateful disciple of the

Saviour except the love of

God through His slain butrisen Son? There is more

encouragement, comfort,

m o t i v a t i o n a n d

empowerment in God’s

grace than we have ever

begun to harness.

“Nothing is sweeter than

love,” Thomas wrote.

“nothing stronger, nothing

lighter, nothing wider,

nothing pleasant, nothing

fuller or better in heaven

or in earth; for love is born

of God, and cannot rest

but in God, above all

created things.” He also

wrote, “A Lover must

willingly embrace all that

is hard and bitter for the

sake of His Beloved, and

never suffer himself to be

turned away from Him by

any obstacle whatsoever.”

Can we imitate Christ in

that way as we prepareourselves to celebrate

Christmas?

Let your saving love, O

God, so bathe our souls

today that we may love

others around us with an

authentic imitation of

Jesus’ self-denying love.

YOUTH FELLOWSHIP

Youth Fellowship meets fourth Saturdays of every month at 04:00pm at

the residence of a parish member.

Encourage all youngsters of our parish to participate in the activities of the

Youth Fellowship. For further details, please contact Ms Shauna Rivya

SUNDAY SCHOOL

Regular Sunday School on all Sundays before the Holy Communion

EDAVAKA MISSION

Edavaka Mission meets at the residence of a parish member every

PARISH CHOIR

Parish Choir meets for practice every Sunday after the Holy Communion

Service at Murdoch Worship Centre. For further details please contact Mr.

SENIOR CITIZENS FELLOWSHIP

Senior Citizens Fellowship meets fourth Saturdays of every month at

12:00pm at the residence of a parish member. For further details, please

contact Mr Retnarajan.

SEVIKA SANGHAM

Sevika Sangham meets once every two month at the residence of a

parish member.

Encourage all women in our parish to participate in the activities of the
