DHURYA –LETS MAKE AN IMPACT!
Team YP did it again! After EPOCH- an intra college event two months back, YP organized an inter-
collegiate Literary Fest-DHURYA on November 1st 2014.The team had started putting its efforts well
before a fortnight of the event, with the members working on Promotion,Organization and other
related stuff, with an unmatched enthusiasm. For us, the Ypians, DHURYA was a platform to experiment
and get to know things beyond the realm of Academics. And for the participants, it was a platform TO
MAKE AN IMPACT!
And when D-day arrived, it arrived with a Bang! With more than 60 students pourng in from different
institutions inspite of their hectic exam schedules, the event was kickstarted at around 10 AM. With
five different events Creative Thinking, Marketting, Debate, JAM and CommuHunt, DHURYA was a
different Ball-game for the participants, which they played it out, with grace!
DOODLERS,NOVEMBER 2014,EDITION 8
Every event posed a tough challenge and required different skill sets. And it was made sure that only
‘The Deserved’ were awarded prizes.
The participants sailed through a different storm, for each event- either in groups or individually. With
ideas and good spirits surrounding us, the event was a grand success. Team YP is looking forward to
send shock waves around the student community once again in the near future.Stay Tuned!

LETS JOLLIFY HONOURING THE GENTLE MEN -19’11
The day is marked every year as an opportunity to work together to improve
the lives of men and boys all over the globe. The theme for the International
Men's Day 2014 is "Working Together for Men and Boys"
Earlier themes:
2011 "Giving Boys The Best Possible Start In Life"
2012 "Helping Men and Boys Live longer, Happier and Healthier Lives"
2013 "Keeping Men and Boys safe"
The observance for the day is designed to "encourage greater cooperation in
addressing issues that affect men and boys all over the world such as the
shorter life expectancy of men, the high male suicide rate, our collective
tolerance of violence against men, the struggles that boys can face in getting

an education and the unique challenges of father-child relationships," the
'Men's Day' website said in a statement.
Started in 1999, the objective behind the day is to highlight discrimination
against men and boys, while at the same time appreciate their achievements
and contributions to society. Although if men have been discriminated
against in this highly-patriarchal world, the #ShowMenSomeLove campaign
by 'Emami' in India is arguing that the world must stop overestimating the
privileges that men and boys supposedly enjoy.

Corruption
[CORRUPTS THE LIFE!]
Corruption is an illegal crime which leaves its
footmark in all its way. It becomes a rule rather than
exception with no destination!. It has made its
foundation so strong, “that a single man cannot over-
rule it”. “If you care you will dare!” .
It has been started as a way of communication to
share the happiness or sorrow to others by giving
party and exchanging gifts which finally leads to the
use of money and other valuables. From there
corruption had started!
It starts spreading at an alarming rate. It follows the
strategy of “give out and take in”. “It takes birth
along with the child‟s birth”! It started from there.
Even to get a birth certificate and death certificate,
there is corruption! It goes on continuing from
generation to generation. Thus “from birth till death”
it comes with us. With death our life stops, but
corruption “never ends”!. “It has no life span and no
limit” .
DOODLERS,NOVEMBER 2014,EDITION 8
It becomes a part of day-to-day life. A small e.g. where
it has a strong base is getting license and in sub
register office where they pay a huge sum. It
overwrites the old saying “Money Makes Many Things”
to “Only Money Makes Things!” . It play a dominating
role in all the fields such as education, sports,
agriculture, real estate, medical, administration,
politics, food management, mining and so on.
It also includes bribery and embezzlement. One of the
major consequences of corruption is that it affects
the economy of the country. It is estimated that $222
billion deals in bribes. It initiates that “with money
we can win the world!” But we can lead a healthy and a
peaceful life only by avoiding corruption which can be
done by creating awareness and spreading mass
education. The last but not the least, it is our
responsibility to act against corruption and make
India a “healthy and wealthy nation”!

FACE OF THE MONTH-NOVEMBER MAN
Probably the only man who made Srilanka to suffer after Lord Rama. The
name November Man would suit him very well than Pierce Brosnan, with
the above description without any effort you would have known whom i
am talking about.Yes its none other than
ROHIT SHARMA-264
The only cricketer to score twice double ton and highest individual
score, this added a feather to the Indian cricket.
Rohit Sharma made an sensational return from injury on Thursday,
scoring a world record 264, off just 173 balls, in the fourth One-Day
International against Sri Lanka at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
Current and former cricketers took to twitter to congratulate Rohit on the
monumental feat of becoming the first player in ODI history to score two
double hundreds.
Here are some of the records set by him during his knock of 264
*By scoring 264, he also broke the record set by Shikhar Dhawan for the
highest individual score by an Indian in limited overs cricket. Dhawan had scored 248 against South Africa 'A' at Pretoria in 2013.
DOODLERS,NOVEMBER 2014,EDITION 8
*By sending the ball swiftly to the boundary boards on 33 occasions,
Rohit also broke the record for essaying most number of fours in a single innings.
*Incidentally, when Rohit composed his first double ton against Australia
at Bangalore, he broke the record for most number of sixes in an innings by clouting 16 sixes.
*Rohit Sharma scored 186 runs in fours and sixes alone, making it the most by a player in an ODI innings.
*He also became the second batsman after Surrey's Alistair Brown to
score 250 in limited overs cricket.
Meanwhile twitter also flooded with trolling posts on his 264. People had
started criticizing that he had made it because it was home condition, flat pitch, weak bowling attack, three dropped catches. Here is one of the post
which found quite interesting
“Manmohan ji told Make in India & I think It implies in cricket too”.
But to make note of it both Mendis & Kulasekara had achieved NO 1
Spot in ODI ranking.
Anyway record is a record, no matter what, where, how and when the
record is done. By this we salute the man behind making people speaking about him worldwide for his unbeatable 264. Lets wish him to break his
own record at overseas next time .
Way to go ROHIT !!!

VOX POP
Academy award winner Ron Howard teams up once again with Two time
academy award nominated writer Peter Morgan in RUSH, which as the
name suggests is an exhilarating sports drama based on the real
life rivalry between formula 1 racing’s great niki lauda and James
Hunt. Set in the backdrop of the golden era of formula racing in the
70’s the director has clearly showcased the rivalry between
English plaYboy Hunt and his counterpart the clever yet
calculative Niki Lauda.
As Christian Mckay rightly says in the movie “men love women, but
even more than that, men love cars” this movie explains the
relationship that men have with cars. The film opens on rainy race
track in Germany voiced in the background by Daniel Bruhl as Niki
Lauda. Like most films of this genere RUSH begins at the most potent
moment ,then goes back in time before looping ,then passes where it
began. This movie well crafted by director Ron Howard tends to
underplay the differences between the two drivers and tends to
sway with their similarities. with more than 12 fatalities in the 70’s
the director has decided to focus on the mindset of the drivers
along with their personal emotions building up in the background
of a hugely speculated formula one season. Chris Hemsworth scores
as James Hunt, also starring Christian Mckay, Olivia Wilde,
Alexandra Maria Lara. This movie received positive response at the
DOODLERS,NOVEMBER 2014,EDITION 8
box office grossing about 90.2 million with regards to its budget of
38 million dollars. With thrilling action sequences ,hilarious but
thoughtful one liners and a championship on the line RUSH has more
in store than what you could think of.

FROM THE BULLETIN TO DOODLERS :
Kolkata is the only city in India where trams, the slow-moving archaic mode of urban transport, continue to operate, preserving the romantic, old-world charm in a rapidly changing modern city.
In its 140-year-old history (starting from February 1873), the tram has seen innumerable changes, and in the process, has changed itself many times — from the horse-drawn carriages of the late 19th century, to the steam-driven cars, and finally the electric trams.
The long and interesting history of this historic mode of transport is being presented in a unique fashion in the city. The Calcutta Tramways Company has come up with a singular concept — a mobile museum tram, christened Smaranika (memorablia).
DOODLERS,NOVEMBER 2014,EDITION 8
The Smaranika houses photographs of different kinds of trams down the ages, different tram tickets, badges, caps and others apparels worn by the conductors, along with different kinds of equipment that have been used from the bygone times.
A section of this intriguing museum on wheels contains various references of the tram in Bengal’s literary and cultural scene. the references include the writings of Rabindranath Tagore, Sunil Gangopadhyay, Sharadindu Bandopadhyay and Bibhutibhusan Bandyopadhayay.
Visitors can also sit and sip tea at a counter inside the tram, which mostly stands at the Esplanade depot of the CTC in central Kolkata.
The Smaranika itself is an antique piece built in 1938, and renovated in the workshop of ctc. it is still operational. “this is the only archive depicting the history of an urban mode of transport. There are railway museums, but nothing like this can be found anywhere else in the country,” said nilanjan sandilya, managing director of the Calcutta Tramways Company.
Mr. Sandilya argues that though trams are not the most preferred form of transport today, mainly due to its inherent slowness, it still remains the most clean and environment-friendly mode of mass transport. “we have aBout 269 trams at present, of which 90-100 are operated every day. The CTC cannot operate all the trams as some of the routes have been truncated and in many routes repair work is going on,” said Mr. Sandilya.
