CMAA takes great pride in its voluntarycertification program. Since its incep-tion in 1965, it has become recognizedas the hospitality industry’s mostrespected certification program. TheCertified Club Manager (CCM) designa-tion is known as the hallmark of profes-sionalism in club management.

EducationThe club management career path isdemanding – both personally andprofessionally. CMAA’s educationalprograms help club managers attain aproductive and balanced future. Annu-ally, members are offered more than150 learning opportunities, all gearedtoward making members more compe-tent and marketable as club executives.As such, club managers must invest intheir professional growth to achievetop performance. The CCM designation is awarded tomembers who:• Maintain Professional membership in

CMAA for a minimum of six years;• Are active in club management (as

defined by CMAA); and• Fulfill specific education require-

ments and participate in Associationactivities.

CCMs are required to actively continuetheir participation in professional de-velopment activities to be recognizedby CMAA with the Certification Mainte-nance Requirement, membership inthe CMAA Honor Society, the CertifiedChief Executive (CCE) and for thosewho meet the challenging require-ments, the Master Club Manager(MCM) designation.

The Club FoundationThe Club Foundation, the only501(c)(3) charitable organization forthe club industry, was established byCMAA in 1988. The mission of The ClubFoundation is to financially support theprofessional development of club man-agers through education, outreach andresearch initiatives.

Social NetworkingAlthough face-to-face connectionsremain important, CMAA has alsoembraced social networking and thebenefits of online communities. Wehave a presence on LinkedIn, Face-book, Twitter, Flickr and Pinterest,where members can communicatevirtually. You can look to these sitesfor information gathering and sharingideas with your peers and other indus-try professionals.

NetworkingCMAA members are part of the largestnetwork of club management profes-sionals anywhere. Each program andevent CMAA holds is designed to helpmembers connect with peers, industryexperts and service providers - provid-ing myriad opportunities to meet,socialize and discover where interestsoverlap.

Held in major US cities, the largestnetworking opportunity – the CMAAWorld Conference and Club BusinessExpo – is the centerpiece of the Associ-ation’s yearly activities and offers morethan 70 education programs fromwhich to choose. Attendees from di-verse club environments and the clubindustry have found a home at thishighly practical, participatory meetingand welcome the networking opportu-nities. This event features:

Industry RelationsThe Association benefits from coopera-tive efforts and joint initiatives with al-lied associations and industryorganizations. Recent initiatives in-clude the government relations coali-tion of We Are Golf; the sustainabilityinitiative with the Golf Environment Or-ganization; efforts to increase partici-pation in golf including Get Golf Readyand Play Golf America; and nationwidefundraising for the members of theArmed Forces through Tee It Up for theTroops.
