Working with our local schools BAS teachers are in the middle of writing your child’s
report. A teacher from Shirley Intermediate School
has spent some time this week talking with our
teachers whilst moderating our writing OTJs (overall
teacher judgements). This means looking at the levels
at which each child is writing at. This work helps our
teachers level your child’s work when it comes to
report writing.

If you know your child will not be returning in 2017
please email the school as soon as possible.
Class requests
In last week’s newsletter we had a draft school
structure for 2017. This structure may change slightly,
however, it did give you the opportunity to identify
which class teacher your child may have in 2017 and
with valid reasons to make a class request. Any
requests need to be in writing. You need to state the
reason for the request and you need have requests in
before Friday 4 November as we will shortly begin
arranging classes for 2017.
Whakatauki Tangata ako ana i te whare, te turanga ki te marae, tau
ana.
A person who is taught at home will stand collected
on the Marae (meeting house grounds).
A child who is given proper values at home and
cherished within their family will not only behave
well amongst the family but also within society and
throughout their life.
Jump Jam Lauren and Harriet were placed third at the South
Island Regional X Factor Competition, which is
where the girls had to lead children in Jump Jam.
They worked very hard for this competition and
their performance was amazing. We are very
proud of their result and what they have achieved.
Ayla from Tuis is working hard in numeracy to learn
her times tables. She can even work out some really
tricky multiplication problems!
Well done Ayla. Keep up the great work

junior school enjoyed some quality time in the truck
with Harold.
PTA News Lunch on Line Lunch on line was to make it a bit easier for parents so
that one day a week children could have a bought
lunch. On average about 65 children use this scheme
each week. In order for lunch on line to continue
operating we need a new group of parents to step
forward to help distribute the lunches each week. This
would involve coming to school on a Thursday sorting
the lunches into class bags and then getting the bags to
the classrooms. It only takes about 40 minutes from
12:00 – 12:40pm.
If you would like to support us ring Gemma on
022 357 9557 and she will give you specifics details
of what is involved.
If you are not currently using our lunch on line service
and you would like to, go to: www.lunchonline.co.nz
to begin. Sydenham Bakery & Pita Pit will deliver hot
and cold food to school ready for lunch. You must
register your child(ren) online to begin.
