From the Pen of the Principals

Primary School Dear Endeavour Schools’ families, Welcome back to Term 3! I hope you all had a wonderful break and are ready for a fantastic term! We finished the end of last term with our Principal’s Afternoon Tea. This was an opportunity for us to celebrate with students from every class who have completed outstanding work throughout Term 2. Each student who attended shared their work with the whole group. I was very impressed with the level of work and the students’ ability to articulate the purpose behind their work and their learning. Congratulations to all those students! See the photo below of all our worthy recipients. As we move to the second half of 2020 we are working hard on gathering data to inform the development of our next Business Plan. During the School Development days this week staff worked with the leadership team to complete a self-review of our performance over the duration of our current Business Plan (2018—2020). We also provided some Professional Learning to lay the foundations for some of our strategies we are planning to implement over the next three years in the Fogarty EDvance School Improvement program. We had an intense two days and I would like to acknowledge the dedication of our staff – they all work very hard to ensure Endeavour Schools is providing the best for our students. It has been brought to my attention that there are some concerns about our student’s awareness of road safety. I have asked that teachers address this through their teaching programs. I am also currently investigating some possible incursions we can access to help us keep this a high priority. We are going to trial having a whole school assembly in the undercover area next Friday, 31st July. This assembly will be run the same as the WebEx assemblies in that we will not be having a class item. Parents of students receiving certificates will be invited to attend if they wish. We need to ensure that parents attending follow the social distancing protocols so please help us with this. I am really looking forward to the Interschool Cross Country next week and wish all our competitors all the best. Thanks go to Mr Nurse for all his work in preparing our students for this event. If you have any queries or are interested in finding out more about what is happening in the school please don’t hesitate to contact me. Jennette Maxfield - Principal

Education Support Centre Dear parents and caregivers, Welcome back to Term 3, we hope you all had a restful break! This Term we welcome back Mrs Berrin Baydar from her maternity leave. Mrs Baydar will be working across our classes and Room 9 on Fridays. Make sure you take a minute to say hello. We finished last term with our Good Standing reward day Pizza, Picnic & Play. For all those students who maintained their Good Standing status throughout the term. Its was a glorious winters day and there were picnic blankets galore and pizza for everyone. This could not have happed for our students without the dedication of a group of parent volunteers who gave their time to pack the pizzas for the students. Elizabeth Overell and her band of wonderful helpers - we can’t thank you enough for your help in feeding all of our 510 students. Watch this space for what is planned for our Term 3 event. Reports were sent home in the last week of school via email. If you did not receive an email or would like a hard copy, please see the ladies in the front office. Please feel free to provide the office feedback on receiving reports this way either by phoning the school office on 9524 5000 or email [email protected]. During day 1 and 2 of Term 3 teachers spent working on school improvement across our Fogarty School Improvement plan. The main focus areas were: 1. Student Progress 2. Student Engagement 3. Staff Leadership We will continue working throughout our plan for the next 3 years in achieving our goals. We will be continually seeking parent, student and community feedback along the way and updates will be given through our newsletter, school Board

and P & C. Have a great term, take care. Jayne Gorbould - ESC Principal

Faction Cross Country Results

Due to the disruptions caused by COVID 19 during Term 1 and 2, alternative arrangements were made in the

running of our Faction Cross Country events. Mr Nurse has been timing Cross Country runs during Phys Ed

lessons for the past 4 weeks. Congratulations to the winners of those runs which are as follows:

Week 4 music lessons will be Endeavour's Got Talent class concerts. These are low key concerts that allow students to perform items of their choice, in front of their class. (Volunteers only) Items can be music, dance or drama based, including reading poetry out loud. Performers can do 1 long item (approximately 3:30mins) or 2 shorter ones. We will leave out the use of microphones this time around, for hygiene reasons. Choir and Flute sessions are back as per the usual times. Flute is on Wednesdays and choirs are on Fridays. Can students in these classes please remember to bring the equipment they need. Year 5 and 6 students will be doing drama this semester, in place of music. I shall open the music room one lunch time per week for children in these classes to play ukuleles and guitars. Children who learn the recorder and flute are encouraged to play their instruments during play times, as long as they behave in a responsible manner and keep a respectful distance from staff and students who are doing other activities. Kerry Nurse
