GARDEN CLUB RAMBLINGS

We have

planted a new

rose called

“Double

Delight.”

Our snow peas

look happy

and are

sprouting.

Snodgrass and

Spencer are still

alive from 2019!

We’ve also

planted some

celery!

Happy Gardening from Dylan!

NEW TANK FOR BIKE SHED

A massive thank you to all of the staff, Rob Armstrong and Kevin who

helped unload our new Bushman’s tank for our bike shed project. Much of

the BMX bike trail has relied on the generous donations and kind labour

support of our P&C members and wider community. The trail is almost

complete and we are looking forward to a school opening for the

complex at the beginning of Term 3.

SOFTFALL DONATION FROM MARRIOTT AND WESTON FAMILIES

The BMX Bike Trail is looking amazing and we appreciate the many kind

and selfless deeds by members of our community to support this project.

Recently, multiple loads of softfall were delivered to the school to be

utilised around the jumps, berms and loops of the trail. Thank you to Bruce

Marriott and Dave Weston who instigated and carried out this work on

their weekend to bring this project one step closer to fruition.

FRIDAY FEASTS CONTINUE

The canteen has become a hive of activity with

delicious lunchtime meals prepared by Mrs Flick and

Mrs Dwyer. Pumpkin and chicken and corn soup was a

popular choice and last week scrumptious potato

bake and garlic bread was a feature! The extra work

involved in organising, sourcing, preparing and cooking

each week has been enjoyable and challenging at times for our chefs and

senior students. We hope to incorporate Friday Feasts cooking into our

curriculum each year moving forward. Next term, we are excited about

our parent helpers returning to prepare and deliver canteen lunches to our

school community. Once again, a big round of applause to Mrs Flick and

Mrs Dwyer for driving this cooking initiative during COVID-19. We are

looking forward to the published Friday Feast Cookbook next term!

CANTEEN RETURNS IN TERM 3

A hearty welcome back to our parents who support our weekly canteen menu and lunch preparation.

All parents are encouraged to contact Lisa and Nigel Baldwin to be part of the voluntary roster. We

appreciate your ongoing support and enthusiasm! Contact Lisa on 0403015423.

CRUNCH & SIP VOLUNTEERS READY

FOR ACTION IN TERM 3

Our amazing and hardworking Crunch & Sip volunteers are chafing

at the bit to return to school to prepare their delicious and famous

fruit and vegetable platters. Mrs Sparkes, Mrs Murray, Mrs Strahan,

Mrs Gibson and Mrs Townsend have been essential and much-

needed voluntary members each week and their cheery faces

have been missed by us all through the restrictive pandemic. We

are looking forward to their welcome return in Week 1 next term!

CANBERRA EXCURSION PLANNED FOR TERM 4

Unfortunately, the Canberra Excursion

has been cancelled with Yeoval Central

and St Columbas students in August.

However, Sharon Balmer from Langley’s

in Dubbo has booked an exciting range

of attractions for our senior students in

Term 4 to visit our National Capital! The

year 5/6 students have been busily researching the many activities

that have been planned for the 4-day excursion in November.

Questacon, Parliament House, power karts, jungle golf, rock

climbing and rides on the Alpine Slide are just a few of the exciting

attractions on the itinerary!

DIGITAL TECHNOLOGY SUPPORT WITH MR ANIKIN

We are grateful to Mr Anikin who works hard to keep all devices and

robotic equipment updated and ready to utilise in our school. His

knowledge and expertise is greatly appreciated and we thank him

for supporting our students so capably throughout the year. Mr

Anikin works in many other schools in our region and we thank him

for his outstanding technological support in our school.

3-WAY PARENT TEACHER INTERVIEWS WEEK 10

Just a reminder to book an appointment at the office for end of

semester interviews with your teachers and children. Reports will be

sent home at the end of this term. We are looking forward to sharing

your child’s achievements and learning goals in our 3-way interview

and appreciate and value your feedback.

CUMNOCK RED CROSS CROSS COUNTRY

For our last day of Term 2 we are

running the Red Cross Cross Country at

the Golf Club. We are raising money for

Red Cross and asking students to bring

a gold coin donation and wear red.

The cross country will be followed by a

sausage sizzle and a final Friday Feast

of apple crumble.

Sorry parents and carers you can’t come due to COVID restrictions.

WELLBEING HUB WITH MRS NELSON

Mrs Nelson has been creating a wellbeing hub in the enclosed

verandah off the staff room. This area will be utilised by the whole

School Holiday Activity list: Ideas for families during the school holidays

The school holidays are a great opportunity for families to unwind, rest and recharge. A good way for

families and friends to connect during the holidays, is do develop an activity list. The idea is that everyone

in the family is included in sharing ideas and activities for the list. You may all sit down for breakfast or

dinner, sharing your ideas and creating your activity list. Or you may leave the list on the fridge and ask

each family member to write down one or two ideas. Be creative and have fun! We would love you to

share your activity lists with the school so that we can share with one another. (Each family will have an

activity list sent home on the last day of school, or you can access the sheet from school stream) Below

are some ideas of what you might put on your activity list.

Have an indoor picnic

Bake some cookies

Go for a nature walk

Visit the skate park

Have a tea party with friends

Have a board game day

Build an obstacle course outside

HAPPY WINTER HOLIDAYS

Thank you to all students, staff, parents and the wider community for their support this term through

challenging and unrelenting circumstances. The children, staff, parents and wider community have been

very supportive and understanding and we are forever grateful for the community in which we live.

Please have a safe and relaxing winter holiday. There will be a Staff Development Day on Monday 20 July

and all students return to school on Tuesday 21 July.

PLAYGROUND ART

Mrs Brodie armed herself with a paint brush and has given a make-over to the Quad. She painted the

new fancy feet. Mrs Flick and Rose joined her on Saturday to brighten the Buddy Bench outside the library.

Mrs Brodie and Mrs Nelson are working with 5/6 students to make this a special outdoor place. Watch this

space! There are also plans to revamp the hopscotch, chess and handball courts. If you would like to help

please give the office a call to let Mrs Brodie know your interest.
