INTRODUCTION
The objective of the present administration in Oyo
State is to provide a broad based education for every child, which would be nurtured on a globally relevant curriculum, using the best available facilities. (i.e.Qualified personnel and adequate infrastructures) to drive initiative, creativity and to prepare the Oyo State child to excel in a highly competitive world.
In line with the Millennium Development Goals and ‘Education for All’, a good vision for education would be carved out to ensure that students in Oyo State are given the best opportunity, which will enable them excel and compete globally. MISSION
To provide an enabling working environment, with adequate and well maintained infrastructures, trained and experienced personnel that are well motivated to actualize the vision and mission of the present administration which translates to total paradigm shift and a change in personnel attitude and mindset of the workforce, which will ensure the transformation and restoration of the Pacesetter status of Oyo State in the education sector.

OUR STRATEGIES -OVER A FOUR
YEAR DURATION
A four-year (2011-2015) Oyo State Education Sector Strategic Plan [SESP] is being proposed through the involvement of all the major stakeholders with whom the various challenges were identified and solutions proffered, without losing focus of the state’s vision and mission for education.
Between 2011-2015, the Operational Plan would include activities and interventions which would be integrated in the execution of the education Plan of the State. This would be organized to take care of the following challenges facing education in the state:

IMPROVING STAFF QUALITY AND RELEVANCE
HIGHLIGHTED ACTIVITIES
Employ additional teachers in primary and secondary schools.
Formulate a policy on the distribution and implementation of curricula
Engage more Guidance Counselors to serve as mentors to students in secondary school
METHOD OF VERIFICATION
Principals/ headmasters bi-monthly activity reports.Staff monthly census report.Inauguration of the task force for the 8 educational zones.Distribution of the curriculum and teachers guides Monitoring reportsClass Attendance Register.

IMPROVING INFRASTRUCTURAL DECAY
HIGHLIGHTED ACTIVITIES
Renovation of dilapidated buildings
Provision of furniture in both primary and secondary schools
Provision of Toilet and sanitation facilities
Increase the provision of infrastructure in schools
Renovation of special schools
Provision of Libraries and reading centers in the 8 educational zones

Adequate blocks of classrooms to be renovated in both primary and secondary schools
Monitoring and inspection reports, photographs and video clip, showing the old structures and renovated structures

IMPROVING ACCESS TO QUALITY EDUCATION AND EXPANDING OPPORTUNITIES
HIGHLIGHTED ACTIVITIES
Radio/Television announcements on the need to give formal education to children with Special Need
Provision of learning materials for students and also those with special needs
Employ science teachers for existing science schools
Conduct research to ascertain the enrolment and the number of Quranic Schools
Increase coverage to girl-child learners at Senior Secondary Level
Formulate policies on the registration and integration of Quranic schools in Formal Western Education Setting

Reading Centres in 8 Education zones
Increase success rate in WAEC and NECO from 12% to 25% in the next 12 months and 50% in 4 years.
Accreditation of courses in tertiary institutions.
