It’s Sharbat Gula- a Pashtun girl from Afghanistan. When

this photo was taken in 1984, she was only 12 years

old living as a refugee in Pakistan.

siblings and grandmother fled to Pakistan where she

never attended school.

countries like Malaysia, Thailand, Kenya, and

South Africa & wait to be resettled.

Where they are considered as illegal immigrants and are forced to take up menial jobs,
