1. Introduction
This device is installed in the branch point of multiple earth neutral 22.9kV-Y system with load
capacity below 16MVA of main line, branch line, or feeder to protect and cooperate with other
protection devices (CB, Recloser, etc.) in case of fault by tripping precisely the fault section and
preventing the spread of the fault thus minimizing the damage. In addition, it is easy to check
the operation status as there is a built-in load current monitoring system and live line status
indicator.

3. Function and Characteristic
During operation, when the current is above the minimum operating current, then the fault
interrupter can auto disconnect as is the characteristic of the T-C in power outage and when
auxiliary relays are first released, then the T-C can be tripped regardless of its characteristic. It
is suitable for usage in areas of high voltage use as well as areas of frequent lightning discharge
and has the following features.
3.1. Overcurrent Trip Funct ion
This fault interrupter has function to detect over current and auto disconnect the fault zone while
the auxiliary relays are released, as well as time-setting functions, OCR Trip and OCGR Trip, to
cooperate with the operations of the auxiliary safety devices.
The circuit breaker can be set to not trip for a set period of time so that it does not malfunction
due to the generated inrush current while being installed for the first time or being closed into
existing grid line.
After tripping the circuit breaker, if closed before the set Outage Timethen this function will
not operate but after the Outage Timehas passed and is closed, then this function will operate
normally. In addition, while the circuit breaker is closed, the backup (CB & REC) becomes
diagonal and if the backup recloses the live wires before the outage time' expires, then this
function will not activate.

3.2. Under Frequuency Relay (81)
The under frequency relay function element is activated to trip CB ( Circuit Breaker PMCB) .
when the distribution system frequency drops below a specified frequency pickup value -
setting (UFR Value Setting). For closed the CB ( Normalize the power line system ) push
the button close local functions from sides panel.

3.4. Line Current and Live Wire Display Function
Simple to use as each phase current (A, B, C, N) is displayed on the control box LCD display as
well as a lamp that indicates the live wire state of the main voltage side (Phase A).
3.5. Simple Function Adjustment
Minimum operating current, overcurrent lock, and other adjustments can be made easily
through the LCD menu on the control box.
3.6. Battery Over Discharge Protection
Before the over discharge of the battery due to the loss of AC power, the whole system will
disconnect to prevent damage from over discharge and will resume normal operation only after
AC power is reapplied.

4. Control Setting
The control setting method of the fault interrupter is as follows.
4.1. Setting the Minimum Operating Current
Minimum operating current can be easily set through the LCD menu.
4.1.1.Minimum Operating Current Values
Minimum operating current value is derived from setting it to 1.3 times the maximum load
current and in case of ground circuit, typically set at around 40% of the rated current. The
following is an example using a 1000KVA transformer.

4.1.2.Setting the Curve
For faster operation of high-current and coordination with transformer station, IEC-VI and IEC-
EI are recommended.
4.2. Setting Inrush Current Suppression
Inrush suppression time and outage time can easily be set by the LCD menu on the control box.
Inrush suppression time and outage time are 0.5 seconds and 0/1 second by default.

5. Operation Description, Function Test and Method
5.1. Operation Descr iption
If auxiliary relays demonstrate delayed action to the fault current that is greater than the
minimum operating current, the fault interrupter has quick RESPONSE TIME and will remove
most faults on its own. Also, depending on the setting of the auxiliary relays and the fault is
removed, then tripping function will activate as an added measure.
5.2. Operation Function Test
This fault interrupter setting is fully completed and tested prior to being shipped out.
5.2.1. Minimum Operation Current Test
Operation within 10% of the minimum operating current value.
5.2.2.Inrush current Suppression Test (0.5 sec. SET status)
If the current is blocked within 0.45 seconds of going above the minimum operating current, the
trip will not activate.

5.3. Operation Method
5.3.1.Manual Control
(1) Close: Pull down the close lever (red) located on the right side of the main box 1 time.
(2) Trip: Pull down the trip lever (green) located on the left side of the main box 1 time.
. Note) Take caution when pulling the lever as to not exert too much force and cause damage
to the device.
5.3.2.Auto Control
First, connect the fault interrupter to the control box with control cables. Open the control box
and check the battery status. Make sure it is over 24V DC. [If the battery is depleted, recharge it
by connecting it to the battery jack].
(1) Close: Press the close button.
(2) Trip: Press the trip button.
(3) Set the values of the control box to accommodate user's needs.

(1) Manual Close Lever(Close)_Red
When installed, close can be done with the manual close lever by pulling it down with the
control hook.
(2) Manual Trip Lever (Trip)_Red
After close, the manual trip lever can be pulled down with the control hook, thus tripping it.
If too much pressure is applied, device may get damaged.
(3) Status Indicator
Display whether the fault interrupter is in trip or closed status.
(4) Manual Close Device
If the hook is pulled down while in close or trip status, machine close is not possible.
(5) Polymer Housing
Take caution as the Epoxy material is susceptible to damage from external shock.

(1) Setting
1) System Settings
CT Ratio Sets the current CT ratio.
Range: 1~1200 (1 Increment, Default: 500)
. Note) This setting must match that of the CT as it affects directly the
performance of the fault interrupter. Factory default setting
strongly recommended.
Frequency
Set the grid frequency.
Range: 50Hz, 60Hz (Default: 60Hz)
TCC Offset
Set the time for the relay to activate after overcurrent has set off the fault
interrupter.
Range: 0~100msec (1msec Increment, Default: 40msec)
Panel Sleep
Set the amount of idle time required to go into sleep mode. In the set
amount of time, if no buttons are pressed, the panel will go into sleep
mode. Range: 0(OFF), 1~100min. (1min. Increment, Default: 5min.)
Remote
Set the remote communication settings for SCADA.
Range: ENABLE, DISABLE (Default: DISABLE)
. Note) In case of ENABLE, IN06: TRIP Order, IN07: CLOSE Order,
IN08: RESET Order is available.
2) Set the OUTPUT signal
OUTPUT Time
Set the time for the PULSE signal to output. However, if the setting is
0(Buffer), OUTPUT signal will occur when the required conditions are
met.
Range: 0(BUFFER), 0.01~60.00sec (0.01sec Step)
OUT01 : Fixed output setting that will output for the set time or until trip
when trip command is received. (Default: 0.05sec)
OUT02 : Fixed output setting that will output for the set time or until close
when close command is received. (Default: 10.00sec)
OUT03, OUT04 : Not used.

Operate Cnt: Set the number of operations of the Section.
- Block I counts the number of times no electricity after fault above the
set current is experienced and when the count is equal to the set value,
then after the "trip delay" time has passed, short trips. If it becomes live
wire before the Trip delay time has passed, then it does not trip.
However, if Block I is set to "NONE" then the minimum operating
current is used as the standard.
- Range: 1~4 (1 Increment, Default: 1)
Reset Dly: Set the reset period of the section operation. After the section
operation number has been reached, live wire is resumed, and no fault is
experienced then the section operation count is reset to zero.
- Range: 0.0~180.0sec (0.1sec Increment, Default: 3.0sec)
Trip Dly: Set the delay time of the built up charge. Instead of releasing thebuilt up charge caused by the section operation right away, it is released
only after no electricity is detected for the set time.

Inrush Time
Set the inrush current suppression.
Inrush-T: Set the inrush current suppression time.

7. Unpacking and Transport
7.1. Unpacking
(1) Prior to unpacking, check for possible damage.
(2) After unpacking, check for damage on the fault interrupter.
(3) Check the name plate on the product to make sure it matches the packaging marking.
7.2. Transpor t
(1) To lift the fault interrupter, firmly secure the wire rope to the 4 transport hooks and use a
crane.
(2) Make sure to place the product on firm level ground.
(3) When placing on the ground, take care to place it gently as strong impact could cause
damage.
8. Fault InterrupterInstallation
8.1. Manual Tripping and ClosingTestPull down the right side of the manual close handle to close the fault interrupter and pull the
green trip lever to trip. Repeat 4~5 times to check the operation of the mechanics.
8.2. Auto Switch Operation Test
(1) Press the close button then about 6 seconds later, fault interrupter is closed. Push the trip
button for immediate effect.
(2) Factory packaging of the fault interrupter includes the main unit, control box, power cable,
connector cable, and installation bracket.
8.3. Pre-installation Precautions
(1) After unpacking and while being transported, make sure that there is no damage.
(2) Install at level.
(3) Make sure there is no power when installing. [Electrocution prevention]
(4) Securely place the ground. [Ground terminal 22 38 wire access]

8.4. Fault Interrupter Installation
When installing on pole fittings, use the set hooks to lift and attach to the arm by firmly
securing the hanger bar, bolts, and clamps.
Properly connect the ground cable to the ground terminal of the main unit and the control box.
Properly connect the control cable to the receptacle on the bottom of the main unit.
Prior to operation, turn on all the control panel switches and verify that the trip/close status
indicator light works and correct the phase current and ground current
8.5. Cable Installation
(1) Power Cable: MS22-2
*. A: voltage side (white), B: ground side (Black).
(2) Control Box Connector: MS28-22
*. Control Cable: 8 meters long, distinguish the male and female connector then connect
the male side to the control and female side to the aluminum main unit until both are
firmly connected all the way in. When connecting, gently shake the unit and not the
cable as shaking the cable may cause break in the connector cable.

9. Inspection and Maintenance
The frequency of the inspection depends on the pollution level and the number of auto
and manual break occurred in the fault interrupter. If no fault current is detected then it
will trip automatically and the next point should be inspected. Inspections must be done
periodically.
9.1. Battery Check and Replacement
9.1.1.Battery CheckThe battery 24V DC and must be charged by external power source of 220V AC that is
connected to the control box.
9.1.2.Battery Replacement
BATTERY is a consumable supply and must be replaced periodically. The replacement
battery can be purchased directly from ENTEC or agents. The battery is 2 Atlasbx KB
7.0-12 connected in sequence. Other batteries may be used as long as they conform to
the specifications below:
