THE PISCES FLEET OFFICE is a place to charter a boat year- round, or to sign up in Cabo for the jackpot. The office, located on the marina near the Hotel Costa Real and Solomon’s Landing, also houses the Tuna Jackpot Wall which displays the 218.9- pound yellowfin tuna mount of the fish that won the first-ever Tuna Jackpot by the panga team Estrella Del Mar. Said Jackpot Director Kit McNear, “Having Tracy down in Cabo year-round allows teams to sign up prior to the event in Cabo. All locals, pangeros or yacht owners should sign up early so they don’t miss out.” The Pisces Fleet has access to all of the charterboats in Cabo and can operate as a central booking agent as Tracy and her staff are familiar with every boat and crew. The Fleet office is not only a place to charter a boat and sign up, but it also houses a Tuna Jackpot Wall which displays the 218.9-pound yellowfin tuna mount of the fish that won the first- ever Tuna Jackpot by the panga team Estrella Del Mar. The tuna mount is just above a wall plaque with the names of the teams that caught the biggest fish each year. The perpetual plaque this year had a new name added, that of the El Loco II, which brought home the 206-pound yellowfin. Past team winners over the years, in order of winning, were aboard the Estrella Del Mar, Blue Thunder, Stimulator, Gricelda, Fish Tales Too, and the Afishinado. By 6 p.m. those who quali-fied will enter a playoff, whichwill be whittled down to fouranglers who automatically winthe $600 rod/reel/line outfits,followed by the finals for thecompetition for the cash justbefore start of the 6:30-7:30Captains’ Meeting.

Last year $800 was awarded,plus the four rod/reel outfitsused in the competition. MarkStreahle of New Jersey took thecash by drilling the top of thedouble-tiered inflatable hoop.And along with Jordan Souza ofSan Diego, Jeff Wooldridge ofDallas and local skipper KevinFall of the Success, the finalists allreceived the rod/reel combos.Streahle, by the way, donated$200 of his winnings to the localchildren’s charity — Los Niñosdel Capitan — that later receiveda total of $23,150 in charityfrom auctions and Corona beerat the awards dinner.

The setup for the contestwill again consist of two float-ing 3-foot diameter hoops witha one-foot diameter inner hoop— one hoop for each casteraiming from a reasonable dis-tance away.

Said McDonell. “Last year

we had 300 people watchingthe finals and it was a blast,so save your $10 bills andstart practicing.”
