Monitoring and controlling buildings.

EIB can now be used at any time and from any location. In residential and functional buildings, this

helps to save costs, time and energy, and ensures more comfort, safety and economy. The current

status of a property can be monitored and controlled, and the consumers can be accessed via both

the Ethernet (e.g. LAN) and the ISDN network. The eibPort, which is connected to the ABB i-bus® EIB ,

passes on the information on connected consumers direct to PC, mobile phone or other communica-

tion channels. From there, direct access is possible from a distance.

Visualise systems and rooms on the PC.

Access power consumers in buildings directly.

It all depends on the right connection. With the eibPort LAN/ISDN, which is connected to the PC

and ABB i-bus® EIB, system statuses can be monitored on the screen and connected consumers

such as heating and lighting can be regulated and newly parametered. Camera pictures additionally

increase security in private houses and other buildings. Safety risks such as fires and floods are

therefore minimised.

Set-up

A PC is connected viathe intranet or via aremote data trans-mission connection(ISDN) to the eibPortLAN/ISDN. The eibPortLAN/ISDN is connectedto the EIB.

Function

The eibPort LAN/ISDN isequipped with a Webserver and contains aseries of Java Applets. These can be called upand edited via thebrowser and permanent-ly stored in the eibPort. The following functionsare available:• Switching• Dimming• Blinds• Room temperature

regulator• Camera pictures• Fault message

Integration of cameras

Remote visualisation/monitoring

Advantages

Apart from a standardInternet browser, no oth-er software is required. The eibPort LAN/ISDNallows simultaneousaccess to several PCs.All PCs access the sameinformation in theeibPort. Each PC seesthe current project.Functions carried out byanother user can beseen online by everyother user.

Function

The eibPort activates thecamera installed in theintranet and creates aconnection.

Advantages

The camera pictures canbe transmitted not onlyvia the intranet but alsovia ISDN. Real moni-toring of the buildingfrom a distance is thuspossible, e.g. in theevent of a smoke alarmthe cause can bedetermined.

Minimise risks. Recognise faults and

intervene immediately.

The eibPort LAN/ISDN independently passes on information on faults detected by the ABB i-bus®

EIB system as an SMS. Rapid intervention can be made via mobile phone by means of the WAP

function and the fault eliminated. Beforehand, the functions of the EIB system are parametered via

a standard Internet browser, the PC and the eibPort.

After being put intoservice, the eibPortLAN/ISDN remains inthe EIB system.

Function

The PC is required solelyfor parametering. Forsubsequent operation, the connection betweeneibPort LAN/ISDN andthe EIB system issufficient, no additionalhardware is required.

Advantages

The usual additionalfunctions (logicoperations, clocks etc.)of the EIB can be para-metered and storedeasily in the eibPortLAN/ISDN. Linking bet-ween the functions ispossible, e.g. control ofactivation of the weektimer via the annualtimer.

Remote programming and remote diagnosis.

Connect buildings and plant in a single system.

The ABB i-bus® EIB eibPort LAN/ISDN is suitable for altering all functions of the connected EIB

systems and their remote diagnosis even from great distances. If buildings and plant which are

operated via an EIB system are to be linked together in a single network, this is possible through

the installation of the EIB eibPort LAN.

Set-up

The eibPort LAN/ISDN isconnected to the EIBsystem and the publictelephone network. Thestart-up PC has an ISDNboard.

Set-up

In each of the buildingsto be networked, thereis an EIB eibPort LANconnected to the LANand the respective EIBsystem. The link canalso be made via MANand WAN networks.

Function

Two buildings equippedwith EIB and locatedwithin a company net-work can be linked. Forthis purpose, in eachbuilding an EIB eibPortLAN is installed, the unitsthen link the EIBsystems via thecompany's intranet.

Function

An iETS Client must beinstalled on the start-upPC to divert the localserial interface via theremote data trans-mission to the eibPortLAN/ISDN and to workas an iETS server. Thesame function can becarried out within anintranet also via the LANconnection.

Advantages

Parameters and orremote diagnoses canbe altered by the electri-cal fitter or by an oper-ator within the Euro-ISDN network evenfrom great distances.Long travelling timesmay be eliminated.Alternatively, the systemcan be put into operationdirectly on location orthe program buttonpressed via a wirelessLAN laptop.
