Integrity comes from the Latin word “intergritas”, the word has, at its root, "integer" or the concept of "whole"Keeping your word – being whole

There is no gap between intent and behaviorIntegrity is the foundation of your being

means acting in harmony with your deepest values and beliefsis having the courage to do the right thingis standing firmly for your principles, even in the face of fierce oppositionis acting humbly and being more concerned about what is right, than being rightmeans you won’t get caught up in arrogance, bravado, manipulation, or win-lose power plays

Integrity practices…

Make clear agreements by defining when, where and how you will fulfill the agreement

When you make your next promise or agreement include what you intend to do, how you will fulfill it, and when they will know

I will send you an email with the meeting details by Friday close of business.

Do not over commit your time and resourcesDo not give into your acceptance and approval issues

Make a list of your incompletions and set an intention to complete them

Could be anything from relationships to a messy garage

means creating a win-win environment leads to forgiveness

Touch your heart when you are in a situation and feeling angry or upsetWhen reacting; practice stopping and looking at the situation from the other persons perspective or from a fly on the wall perspective Instead of recognizing the differences between yourself and others, try to recognize what you have in commonRandom acts of kindness like share a smile, or a kind word, or doing an errand or chore, or just talking about a problem with another person.

Treating others as competent Generally caring for othersRespecting the dignity ofevery person and every role

means talking about people as if they are in the same room

If you couldn’t say it to their face then you shouldn’t be saying it

means keeping your emotions in check especially when your upset

shows up in our actions and behaviors requires the essential element of time which determines whether we make conscious or unconscious choices

Notice when you start telling stories and stopLook at the choices you made that created the results you haveWhat part did you have or play in the situation

Notice when you start making excuses and stopAgain look at the choices you madeLook inward – not outward for answers

Look at situations where you were in big reactionWhat is the common theme that keeps repeating itself If you can recognize the pattern then you can do something about it

Through reading many books on leadership and leaders

these elements, skills, attitudes, values, and practices were the common threads that became evident

Through practical experience I have been a CEO and President for over 24 years and these are the traits I have personally developed over time
