GOD’S WORK
We are so busy! Most of us have more than one job to do, and we
never seem to have enough time. We are workers, volunteers, parents,
friends, and most of us are more than one thing at a time. But which of
these is the work of God?
We seldom view our ordinary work as being the work of God. We may
think that we have to be ministers or priests, missionaries or charity workers,
engaged full-time in works formally identified as being “God’s work.” But
everything we do with a faithful heart and with love for others is God’s
work. We each have our own role to fill in the world, and many gifts are
necessary. We cannot always see the direct connection of our daily work
to the plan of God. But we trust and we believe that God leads us to do
what is needed, where it is needed. What is “God’s work?” “This is the work
of God, that you believe in the one he sent” (John 6:29).
EL TRABAJO QUE DIOS QUIERE
¡Estamos tan ocupados! Muchos de nosotros tenemos más de un
trabajo y parecería que nunca tenemos suficiente tiempo. Somos

AUGUST 18-19, 2018
Fr. Federico Asesor, MF is of the Order of Missionaries of Faith and he will be here next weekend to talk
about the mission and the needs of the Institute.
Missionaries of Faith was founded in 1982 in Italy and has the charism to assist priests, to promote
ecumenism, promote youth formation, and sharing the gift of Faith.
The purpose for their appeal is to ask support for their seminarian’s education and religious formation.
With your help and participation in this mission appeal, you become part of the mission. Support them
and be counted. Your assistance is very much appreciated.
“Amen, I say to you, whatever you did for one of these least brothers of mine, you did it for me.” –Matthew 25:40
A second collection will be taken up next week during all Masses we ask that
you please give generously.
Harvey Clean Up Saturday
Can your parish group, co-workers, family, civic organization arrange for a “Harvey Clean Up
Saturday?” Can you help? There is still much work to be done as a new hurricane season is upon us.
Your charity for God’s people is needed. No group is too small. When you have a group together, get
in touch with Deacon Richard Longoria to make arrangements to work through any number of volunteer
centers set up in our region. The coordinating groups are: Port Aransas Volunteer Center, Rockport
Volunteer Center, Refugio County Volunteer Center, the Sisters at Schoenstatt Shrine, Coastal Bend
Long Term Recovery Center, Mayor Sharon Scott of Bayside, Mayor Mary Canales of Tivoli who also
coordinates relief work in Austwell. Deacon Longoria will help you in any way he can to arrange a
volunteer group in your parish. Call Deacon Richard Longoria at (361) 446-2291 or
