COTILLION BALL
Saturday, April 14, 19"79 7:00 p.m .. 12:00 p.m.
RAMADA INN CONVENTION CENTER Champaign, Illinois
GAMMA UPSILON PSI SOCIETY
Proudly Presents
COTILLION '79
It may seem trite to say that "life is what you make it"; yet it's true .. Outside influences are great~ but onlg the limitations you place on yourself are insurmountable.
The road stretches out before you . ... full of uncertainties~ fears~ hopes~ dreams. The well-trod path may be easier but remember~ that it takes no imagination/no creativity to do what has already been done; unless~ of dourse~ you can find a way to do it better.
Let no one draw you down/puff you out.
Look inside yourself for strength~ for truth~ for the beauty/the good that is in you. If by chance~ you meet someone along the way that
. cares~ accept that. But no one cares as much for you as you. No one . has more to gain from your triumphs than you; and no one wiU hurt more from the failures than you. If you have given your all~ you have no reason for remorse. .
Accept the chaUenge that is life. Build strong foundations for Black women of tomorrow to stand proud upon.
Believe in yourself!!!

Youth at the eros'sroad He stood at the crossroad all alone, the sun rose in his face; He had little hope for a'world unknown, he was set for a manly
But the road stretched east, and the road stretched west. And the youth didn't know which road was best.
So, he took the wrong road and went down, down, down: He lost the race and victor's crown, Because no one stood at the crossroad there To show him a better road.
Another day, in the self-same place, a youth with high hopes stood; He too, was set for a manly race, and sought the things that were good.
But one was there who the lad did know, and kindly showed him the way to go. Today he walks the highway fair, because someone stood at the crossroad there To show him a better road.

DEAR SHIRESE, The ladder of Fame is
leaning against the wall of
time, braced by the rock of
ages. If you want to succeed,
you must climb. When to the top of the
ladder you've climbed, don't throw it down, but reach back and help someone else off the
ground. Never doubt your ability
to succeed. Keep things simple always treat others as individuals and human beings and never forget your heritage.
We love you dearly,
Mom.Dad, and Corky
74 --------------------...........
Dear Mom. Dad and Corky. ~-This is just a small token of my appreciation for the help ~~~.
and support that you've given me in my i8 years of living. I \ realize that at times I haven't been the easiest person to live with, but in some way or another you've always managed to look around my short-comings and love me just as much as before. You've shared your time, your wisdom, and intelligence with me, and though a lot of times I didn't agree" 1 thank you very much for not letting me have my way.
Remember always that I love you all and I deeply appreciate everything that you have done for me.
WI'l'H MUCH LOVE ALWAYS----
