PART ONE: STUDENTS SIGN IN Step 1: View the Online Counseling website
(http://www.wlac.edu/Counseling/Online-Counseling.aspx) o Read the Directions
Step 2: How To Talk to the Counselor Online o For walk-in, click “LIVE CHAT”o For Appointment, click “SCHEDULE MEETING” o If you have a Cranium Cafe account, go to step 5. If you do not,
continue with step 3.
Step 3: Read Consent Statement. If you agree, then click “ACCEPT” to move forward.
Step 4: Logging on/Creating an account

If you have a CANVAS Account, you can log with Canvas ID and password.
If you do not, you can create an account by clicking “GUEST REGISTRATION”. o Click on “Register Here
o Complete the required fields.
Step 5: Chat Box Will Appear to Begin Chatting with a Counselor
PART TWO: COUNSELORS VIEW Step 1: Log On to WLAC Cranium Café Account https://wlac.craniumcafe.com/login
Step 2: Select Your Status to Make Yourself Available to Students
Step 3A: If You Have Appointments Select “AWAY”, You Can View Appointments with The Following Steps:
Click on “Cranium Café” Tab on the left, then click “My Café Appointments:
And/Or You Can Click On “Campus Calibrate” To Get More Student Details.
o After selecting “CAMPUS CALIBRATE”, click “ONLINE COUNSELING”, and “ONLINE Counseling” again.
Next to your name, you can click on the highlighted boxes for appointment details.
Step 3B: If You Are On WALK-IN Select “ONLINE” When a student is reaching out for walk-in counseling, a box
will appear and beep will sound. Then you can begin replying.
o Recommendation for Welcome Message to WLAC: “Hi, Welcome to WLAC Online Counseling. How can I
assist you today?” Second reply after student responds: “I can help. To begin,
what is your student ID?” This way you can log contact on to PEOPLESOFT under
Counseling/Advising for SSSP report.
Step 4: If Need Additional Information, You Can View the from Chat Tools.
4A: “View Student Details”- student’s card to schedule meeting, send offline message, history of appointments, etc.
4B: “Save Chat to a New Meeting”- if walk-in becomes an appointment, you can save it as a new meeting/appointment.
4C: “Send to Another Moderator”- you can send student to another counselor who is available online.
4D: “Send to Lobby” -if you have several walk-ins at once, you can send them to the lobby to wait until you are done with present student.
Step 5: Turn A Walk-In into an Meeting Click “OPEN YOUR DOOR” and click “Enter Meeting”
o Note Only Counselor can “open door to request meeting/video chat”
You can share your screen or the student can share their screen with you. Click “SHARE SCREEN” on top left.
You will be asked what screen to share, select what you want to share with the student.
Student will be able view the screen you selecto Note screen is live so student can see as you complete the SEP
Step 6: Once Appointment is finished, make sure you click “EXIT MEETING” on top right corner.
Step 7: All Chat and Appointments are recorded so you can always go back to review, if needed.
