Give Your Elastomeric Roof Coating the Competitive Edge
Kraton Gives Their Customersthe Best Roofing Solution Available:
Kraton® polymers allow elastomeric roof coating manufacturers and installers to achieve the highest performance level in themarket, and provide for the lowest total cost in use. They can be installed on most roofing substrates including metal, TPO, asphalt, concrete, polyurethane, EPDM and others. Manufacturers using Kraton polymers in their formula can meet the requirements ofASTM D6083 and achieve Energy Star rating.
Peak PerformanceSuperior water resistance—stands up to ponding waterHigher tensile strengthExcellent adhesion to roofing substratesImproved elasticity—withstands roof contractions and expansionsIncreased dirt pick-up resistanceAllows for manufacturer and installer extended warranties
Lower Installation CostsFast cure means a second coat can be applied within four hoursEliminates recoating due to weather-impacted curingDoes not need a primer
Withstands Adverse Weather ConditionsCoatings will not wash off with overnight rainCan be installed in humid or cold conditions without concern Extends the installation season, which equates to increased installations and salesReduces cancelled installations or recoats due to weather-related
issuesSEBS polymers UV resistant and will not yellow over time.
Proven and Time-Tested FormulationsEnergy Star rating achievable and passes ASTM
D6083 requirementsSimplified formulation requires no surfactants,
defoamers, or glycolsHolds pigments very well, resists chalking
Advanced Polymer TechnologyG1643, our new, patented polymer, allows for higher solids without raising viscosityReaches lower VOC levels, well within the EPA regulationsGives formulation options to roofing manufacturers—provides an easy-to-use product that can be spray or roll-applied.

Kraton polymers provide a versatile elastomeric roof coatingthat can be installed in wet, humid or cold conditions, which
enables installation convenience and efficiency.
Kraton polymers help elastomeric roof coatings extend the life ofthe roof and reduce building energy costs.
Kraton® Polymers are the Building Blocks for Roof Coating Solutions
Radiative PropertiesCoatings made with Kraton SEBS polymers exhibit excellent
radiative properties as well. Testing has shown best in class
initial reflectance and emittance. Samples prepared with the
G1643 starting point formulation showed the following:
Reflectance: 0.89 ASTMC1549 Emittance: 0.88 ASTMC1371
Dirt Pick Up ResistanceKraton polymers exhibit excellent dirt pick up resistance
for improved long term durability and reflectance. Coatings
made with Kraton polymers have extremely low porosity
and excellent water resistance. Water and stains can’t
penetrate the coating surface easily and the coating will
retain its color better for the long term. The hydrogenated
polymers, like G1643, have excellent UV resistance as well,
so roof coatings made with Kraton polymers will weather
well and resist yellowing and staining for better long term
performance.
Testing completed with coatings in an iron oxide slurry for
500 hrs show that a roof coating containing Kraton G1643
holds up better than a typical acrylic formulation:
