eLCSS-QL Overview
The feasibility and reliability advantages of the electronic LCSS include:
• No measuring of VAS scores…this is done automatically
• No need to transcribe any data…this too is done by the handheld and the computer
• Patients cannot inadvertently skip questions
• Patient responses are immediately available to the treatment team on the computer screen or printout
• Data are kept on a file specific to studies or treatment regimens for later data analysis and for sending to a central data site
• Relatively low cost
• Great data manager, investigator, and patient acceptability
• Use of a frequently used validated instrument available in 42
languages

eLCSS-QL “Server” Screen on the PC
• The program on the desktop PC is where patient management, printing of results, and exporting of data are performed
• This is the patient management screen (to the right):
• Adding observers, patients, and basic study information is performed on the PC, which is easier than doing these tasks on a handheld
