A 200V dc series motor has armature and field resistance of 0.2Ωand 0.1Ω respectively. It takes a current of 20A from the supplywhile running at 1300rpm. If an external resistance of 2Ω is addedin series with the motor calculate new armature current and thespeed. Assume load torque is remains constant.

A 200V, 500 rpm 100A separately excited dc motor has an armatureresistance of 0.06 Ω. It is fed from a single phase fully controlledrectifier with an ac source voltage of 220V, 50Hz. Assumingcontinuous conduction, calculate (a) firing angle for rated motortorque and 250 rpm.(b) firing angle for rated motor torque and -250rpm (c) motor speed for α = 150° and rated torque.

A 230V, 850 rpm 150A separately excited dc motor has an armatureresistance of 0.06 Ω. It is fed from a chopper with source voltage of230V. Assuming continuous conduction, calculate duty ratio forrated motor torque and 600 rpm.

A 200V dc series motor runs at 800rpm when operating at its fullload current of 10A. the motor resistance is 0.5Ω and magneticcircuit can be assumed unsaturated, what will be the speed if (a) theload torque is increase by 50%(b) the motor current is 5A.
