HCC is a Northeast Kansas community college serving 6 regional centers and 35 instructional sites in 9 counties. 270 part-time instructors, including day/evening/weekend adjunct and concurrent (dual-credit) Teaching in face-to-face, hybrid, and interactive distance learning (IDL) formats each term.

A paper-and-pencil evaluation tool unrelated to Shared Performance Expectations (SPEs) and the HCC Strategic Plan and poorly aligned with professional development resources designed to improve teaching. Nine instructional staff members responsible for completing a cycle of evaluations with goals of a) observing ALL new instructors; and b) observing existing instructors at least once over a 4-term period.

And… HCC is an Academic Quality Improvement Program (AQIP) Pathway Institution within the Higher Learning Commission AQIP Criterion Three: Objective 1 “Curriculum is relevant and level of quality is consistent across all delivery methods” Objective 2 “Institution provides support for student learning and effective teaching”

Southwest Plains Service Center and Highland Community College are active members in a consortium of district superintendents, building principals, and special education coordinators. Recent Kansas legislation mandates outcomes-based evaluation and improvement plans for PreK-12 teachers; Southwest Plains Service Center collaborates with area districts to implement the e-Walkthrough and e4E tools.

There shall be a department of agriculture which shall be under the control of the board of regents of the college of agriculture and mechanic arts; and the legislature shall provide lands and funds necessary for experimental farming and demonstrating by said department.[1]

Revise this text from the Wisconsin State Constitution Division of Counties No county with an area of nine hundred square miles or less shall be divided or have any part stricken therefrom, without submitting the question to a vote of the people of the county, nor unless a majority of all the legal voters of the county voting on the question shall vote for the same.[1] *

* Tool must be calibrated by generating test data by multiple observers in a variety of sections in order to increase reliability and validity—HCC team began with pilot data that was not stored or shared with instructors.

Professional development opportunities must be available to instructors to address areas of improvement in a variety of formats (live, webinar, group discussion, articles, etc.)
