Updated 3-1-17 Page 1 of 1 Electronics Technology (ET) STEM/Information Technology Skilled and Technical Sciences Contests Contest Information State Qualifying Exam: No National Contest: Yes Participation: Individual Contest Description This competition is divided into five sections: customer service exam, written exam, soldering, breadboarding and troubleshooting. Competitors demonstrate their knowledge of analog and digital circuitry, ability to troubleshoot electronic circuits, ability to construct and test experimental circuits, and ability to design and select circuit components. Tasks To Be Evaluated There will be 4 sections, Interview/soft Skills, Knowledge Exam, Soldering Project, and Breadboarding Project. Each Section will be timed and last 90 minutes. Clothing Requirement National Requirement: For men: Official SkillsUSA white polo shirt with black dress slacks, black socks and black leather shoes. For women: Official SkillsUSA white polo shirt with black dress skirt (knee-length) or slacks, black socks or black or skin-tone seamless hose and black leather dress shoes. All: Safety glasses with side shields or goggles. o Prescription glasses can be used only if they are equipped with side shields. If not, they must be covered with goggles. State Requirement: National Requirement OR Black dress pants, white dress shirt, dark socks with dress shoes. Safety glasses with side shields or goggles. o Prescription glasses can be used only if they are equipped with side shields. If not, they must be covered with goggles. Supplies Provided by Technical Committee Electronic trainers, breadboarding kits, troubleshooting card set, soldering kits and necessary test manuals. Supplies Provided by Contestant Soldering equipment, multimeter, small ruler, O-Scope, small screwdriver, magnifying glass (any size), misc tools (as needed).
