PLAGIARISM DETECTION TOOLS
Most of the current tools are meant for English.
That reflects the need of highlighting the problem of
plagiarism in Arabic and finding proper techniques to solve it.
Arabic Plagiarism Detection (APD) tool can help educators
in:
Preventing plagiarism by detecting unoriginal content
in students’ assignments and papers.
Marking and judging the students’ work.
Educating students about plagiarism and importance of
proper attribution of any borrowed content.

Since e-learning industry has increased in SA and Arab
countries, there is a great demand for insuring the
intellectual property for the work written in Arabic.
We shed light on the issue of Plagiarism through
studying :
(i) the paradigm of document submission in e-learning
(ii) plagiarism detection paradigm, and
(iii) our proposed paradigm that integrates both.
The great deal of our APD tool is not only detecting and
deterring plagiarism but also in educating students
about the importance of the originality by using their
own work and citing the original references.
