In Pastoral Care visitation there are many different interactions and occurrences that take place for a pastoral visitor and sometimes one may encounter a situation that calls for additional help or intervention for the person being visited.

You are invited to join us for a free afternoon mini-presentation on Monday, May 21st in the church from 1:30-3:30PM. Pre-registration is required by May 16th!

To register please visit: http://webapps.rcda.org/PastoralCareRegistration/

Questions? Please call Maria at 518-641-6818

Come enjoy music, conversation, food,

drinks and fun with your spiritual

family at St Vincent's!

See familiar faces in a brand-new

light: this evening of cabaret will include new renditions of old favorites,

show tunes, folk music, pop music, and even some original music from the talented musicians of our choir,

as well as delicious tapas and drinks (hard and soft).

Bring a friend and your sense of humor! If you would like to help, either by bringing finger foods or drinks, or with set up/clean-up, please contact Marie Bernadett at

[email protected]. We look forward to a lovely, lively evening with you.

All free-will offerings go towards the budget of liturgy and our music ministry.

In addition to support for seminarians, and in particular in our parish for lay ministry formation, pastoral care

ministry formation, youth ministry, catechetical formation, technical support in the areas of building

maintenance and human resources, the Bishop’s Appeal also provides support for administrative

costs of Catholic Schools which many of our parish children attend, for REC (Residents Encounter

Christ) an important prison ministry which involves many of our parishioners, for Catholic

Charities which is at the ready to help in all sorts of crisis and emergencies, most recently taking over

an additional homeless shelter in the City of Albany after an evicted client died tragically under

the previous management.

Please be generous. We are depending on you. Thank you, Elizabeth

The Church of St. Vincent DePaul and the Parish Pastoral Council

According to documents provided by the Albany Diocese, drawn from articles in Canon Law and Vatican Council Documents, the parish pastoral council assists the parish leader, pastor or parish life director in his or her ministry in three ways: its members investigate current realities in parish life; review and reflect on what has been learned in relation to the goals of a parish and advises with regard to a way or ways forward. The parish leader listens to the wisdom of the council and together they discern next steps.

Who should be on the pastoral council? There are a variety of gifts needed such as: parish institutional memory; creative thinking; wisdom; knowledge of the local community; knowledge of church teaching and parish life; abilities to listen, to integrate; courage to take risks or conservatism, when that is the best course of action. This is just a partial list of possibilities. No one person has all of the gifts that are needed but the pastoral council, working together, should bear witness to them. Parish staff members are not eligible.

What would serving on the council look like? The pastoral council will consist of eight to ten members and meet monthly from August to June, omitting the month of December unless circumstances require. The meetings will be on a consistent day and time within the month to be decided upon, once the council membership has been discerned.

Having read all this, please use the form below if you would like to volunteer or nominate someone to serve on the pastoral council. Selection will take place through a discernment process moderated by Sr. Kitty Hanley. I nominate ______________________ for the St. Vincent de Paul Pastoral Council. Their best contact information is (phone or email) ___________________________________.

The gifts/ talents/ skills/ assets I believe they would bring to the Council are: _______________________________________________________________________________________________

Signature (optional) _____________________________________
