The elmeg hybird was developed as a pure IP telephone sys-tem based on our convergent software platform. Hybird stands for seamless integration of advanced IP technology with conventional equipment and support for the corresponding open standards. Thanks to the modules available for the system, it can easily be configured as a conventional telephone system using proven technology without sacrificing forward compatibility.

Expansion modules
In the elmeg hybird series, the S0 (internal/external) and Up0 ports (internal) have been combined for the first time to form a combination S/U interface. The new combination interface allows you to configure the communications solution to your two-wire or four-wire cabling by simply setting a jumper. And you can adapt the system to future changes just as easily. The 8 S/U module and the combination module with 4x S/U and 6x FXS ports give you flexible expansion options. For scenarios with a large number of analog interfaces (such as hotels), we offer FXS modules with 8 or 16 ports.
All subscriber modules can also optionally be equipped with ter-minal blocks or RJ-45 jacks for structured cabling.To ensure forward compatibility, separate expansion slots for optional modules are available. For media conversion (con-necting conventional telecommunications equipment to IP tele-phones or SIP providers), the elmeg hybird can be expanded to include two powerful DSP modules which provide media con-version interfaces that can be used in parallel.

To implement PRI ports, an optional media gateway is installed up-stream of the elmeg hybird. A hybrid PRI bundle with the RT4402 high-end VPN / PRI gateway as either a pure IP or TDM bundle is available from Teldat for this purpose. The IP version is tailored to companies that mainly use IP devices, while the TDM version was conceived for businesses that mainly use conventional telephones. The bintec RT4402 media gateway also provides a wide range of additional applications. VPN functionality, internet access gateway operation, and PRI virtualization for fax servers (T.30) are a few examples. The elmeg hybird is very flexible, allowing you to combine it withthe perfectly-matched bintec media gateways, bintec routers, packetalarm UTM systems, and many other Teldat IT compo-nents to create a comprehensive business solution.

LDAP — The elmeg hybird’s telephone book
A shared company-wide telephone directory is a must and, thanks to the elmeg hybird systems, easy to im-plement for SMEs since the LDAP server is already in-
tegrated into elmeg hybird systems. LDAP-capable devices such as standard IP telephones can access the central system telephone book directly on the hybird just like the elmeg system telephones can. Ac-cessing the private telephone book of a user is also possible—of course with username and password protection.

Together with the XPhone Unified Communications 2011 solu-tions from C4B, the elmeg hybird 300 and 600 systems become powerful and complete CTI and UC solutions.
The XPhone product portfolio comprises the single-license XPhone Express 2011 solution and the powerful XPhone Unified Communications 2011 client-server solution. While the afford-able XPhone Express 2011 is already helpful in improving com-munications and daily workflows for a single workstation, the solution modules such as CTI, fax, voicemail, and presence man-agement available in the XPhone Unified Communications prod-uct ensure efficient communications for 10 or more employees.
The XPhone solutions integrate seamlessly into the user interfaces of Microsoft Outlook (Exchange), Apple Mac OS X, Lotus Notes, and Tobit David. Putting a system phone in the home officeThe elmeg hybird can connect home offices, mobile employees, part-time external staff, or small branch locations with one or two extensions easily and conveniently to company headquarters us-ing voice over IP. These employees can work from their external locations as if they were sitting at company headquarters. This provides a range of advantages including participation in teams located at headquarters, presence information for all connected employees, a single company telephone number for customers, telephone calls billed through the company’s central telephone line, a centralized system telephone book, and the strict separa-tion of private and business lines. It makes no difference to the elmeg hybird if a subscriber is at an on-site extension or located at a branch location or home office. They are a regular part of the system and experience no difference in functionality. The advantage is that this solution does not require any modifica-tion to the existing telephone infrastructure.

The elmeg hybird also offers simultaneous incoming call indica-tion on both an internal terminal and an external telephone num-ber such as a mobile phone. This setting can be turned on and off by entering a code. The simultaneous call indication activates when the internal subscriber is dialed directly. During the call to the external phone, the call can be put on consultation hold or transferred to other subscribers on the elmeg hybird using DTMF key sequences.
Mobile and external devices such as smartphones and lap-tops are integrated into the el-meg hybird system using the wireless LAN infrastructure or as SIP clients. The mobility this solution provides is so straight-forward and flexible that there is no longer any difference in reachability for staff in the office and staff on the road.

The new elmeg S530 and S560 ISDN system telephones are perfect-ly matched to the hybird systems and can be managed directly from the hybird Voice System. This enables quick and easy setup and automatic transmission of status information. The system tele-phones are synchronized centrally on the hybird system, elimi-nating the need to program settings at the telephone itself.
This makes the elmeg hybird quick and easy to adapt to your building’s existing cabling and any future cabling installations. In addition, these system telephones always come equipped with an additional S0 port for connecting a second device. The new models can be upgraded with up to three key expansion mod-ules that have 30 keys with LEDs.
