PC BASED PROJECTS PC based Embedded projects have their own way of application and ease of operation, all the PC based embedded projects will be interfaced with a VB front end, which uses the hyper terminal application of the windows OS and serves the purpose of communications through serial interface. These projects include, monitoring systems, navigation systems and control systems. The serial communication interface will be RS232 protocol for which we use MAX 232 IC as a hardware component

DTMF/ MOBILE BASED Dual Tone Multiple Frequency (DTMF) is a signaling system for identifying the keys or better says the number dialed on a pushbutton or DTMF keypad. DTMF has enabled the long distance signaling of dialed numbers in voice frequency range over telephone lines. We use a DTMF decoder namely MT/MT/HT-8870/9170 to decode the signals received by the DTMF decoder Which provides us the binary equivalent of the tone received ex: for 3 it would be 0011, which can be fed to the digital controller to perform the operations needed.

Zigbee is a low power spin off of Wi-Fi. It is a specification for small, low power radios based on IEEE 802.15.4 – 2003 Wireless Personal Area Networks standard. Applications include wireless light switches, electrical meters with in-home-displays, traffic management systems, and other consumer and industrial equipment that requires short-range wireless transfer of data at relatively low rates. ZigBee operates in the industrial, scientific and medical (ISM) radio bands; 868 MHz in Europe, 915 MHz in the USA and Australia, and 2.4 GHz in most jurisdictions worldwide.

Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems or MEMS Technology is a precision device technology that integrates mechanical elements, sensors, actuators, and electronics on a common silicon substrate through micro fabrication technology. GSM BASED PROJECTS

Global System for Mobile communication (GSM) is an architecture used for mobile communication in most of the countries. Since its inception, GSM was destined to employ digital rather than analog technology and operate in the 900 MHz frequency band. Most GSM systems operate in the 900 MHz and 1.8 GHz frequency bands, we use a GSM modem namely simcomm300 which can be used as an imitation of mobile phone to receive and send the signals over the GSM band, this GSM modem can be operated using some set of commands, this modem works on serial communication interface. GSM finds its applications in device switching, vehicle navigation communication, monitoring, authentication and security.

RFID BASED PROJECTS

RFID (Radio frequency identification) tag is also called as Transponder. This operates on 1.25 KHz. It is a low power consumption unit. It consists of digital data in the form of active RF zip. It sends the digital data to the RFID reader through internal Antenna. RFID reader is also called as Interrogator. RFID reader it receives the data from Tag through Antenna. The received data is coded by the using Manchester coding and sends serially to the controller through RS232; from there we can use that data for different kind of applications like authentication, ID access, account management, price tags and also in security systems

A touch screen is an electronic visual display that can detect the presence and location of a touch within the display area. The term generally refers to touching the display of the device with a finger or hand. Touch screens can also sense other passive objects, such as a stylus. Touch screens are common in devices such as game consoles, all-in-one computers, tablet computers, and smart phones. Such displays can be attached to computers, or to networks as terminals. THERMAL PRINTER BASED PROJECTS

Thermal printing (or direct thermal printing) is a digital printing process which produces a printed image by selectively heating coated thermo chromic paper, or thermal paper as it is commonly known, when the paper passes over the thermal print head. We can see this technology in real time embedded products like e-billing, ticket vending machines, ECG printing, electricity bills, e- challans and few other GPRS server based products etc.,. Thermal printer operates on some set of commands. By using this, any type of text data we feed can be printed on to a special paper. These printers are very portable but complicated in design.
