Fundraising for A Good Cause

As some countries around the world were hit with devastating hurricanes, some students in 3rd and 5th grade from our PS 133 community felt the need to help raise money to help

families and children. As we enter into the holiday season, there is no better way to show that we care no matter the distance. Together, these students raised over $177.00! Amazing!

Julia Goldman (Class 3-433) “I wanted to help because lots of families lost their homes and

they are having trouble communicating with their families.”

Christopher Burwell (Class 5-509)

“I went to Puerto Rico for a family vacation. And it’s beautiful. I thought I could help to

make it beautiful again.”

Madie Cohen (Class 3-433) “I don’t have family in Puerto Rico but I have family in Mexico. I

know I wanted to help. So me and my friends decided to sell bookmarks.”

Elle Surowiecki (Class 3-433)

I want to raise money so that the cracked dam in the road can be fixed and Ms. Quintero can contact her family.”

Amalia Rollmann (Class 3-433)

“I want to help people. I heard some people are hungry and I want to help them.”

Miranda Lupel (Class 5-509)

“After everything’s that’s been going on and everything that has happened in the world, I know I wanted to help.”

At this time of year, we emphasize to our youngsters

the importance of providing a “service” to those who are less fortunate than themselves. These

opportunities come in the form of our Annual Food Drive and Toy Drive. Please support us by sending in

non-expired canned or dry goods for the Food Drive or a new unwrapped toy to donate to children at a local hospital or who live in

Temporary Homes.

We are so proud of them and thankful for what they have done! Here’s what they have to say:

Shoutouts to...

Upcoming Event(s)

December's Assembly Program

Big thanks to Ms.Campbell (3-431) and Ms. Katz (3- 410) for their encouraging performance based around

Spaghetti in A Hotdog by Maria Dismondy showing others how to be have courage.

PS 133 is proud to be participating in the “Just Say Hi” campaign. This partnership focuses on encouraging school communities to consider disability as

an aspect of diversity and furthering the inclusion of students with disabilities through peer conversations, relationships, and school activities. This campaign also aligns to other DOE initiatives including Equity and Excellence for All and Respect for All. We will be hosting our “kickoff” event during National Inclusive

School Week (Dec. 4th - 8th). Inclusive Schools Week is an annual event sponsored by the Inclusive Schools Network (ISN) and Stetson & Associates,

Inc., which is held each year during the first full week in December. Since its inception in 2001, Inclusive Schools Week has celebrated the progress that

schools have made in providing a supportive and quality education to an increasingly diverse student population, including students who are marginalized

due to disability, gender, socioeconomic status, cultural heritage, language preference and other factors.

Congratulations to studentsin grades 1&2 for a great job inkeeping the cafeteria clean as apart of our Zero Waste Program.
