Our diverse, bi-cultural board members were most impressed with the inclusive process and incisive result. What we have achieved as a result of the planning session three years ago, showed us all the power and precision of Alan’s process of strategic planning.” - Client Comment

After working with EMC “… outputs were 15% over volumes required; at 5% less unit cost. (I am ) much more confident in (my) job and life. The (business) has a strategic plan, has much greater customer focus. Team leaders know their roles and are contributing to team meetings.... Now they are regularly attending meetings and focusing on the big issues (e.g. they are already looking at capital items for next years budget round, before time, have addressed the issues of shift work and roistering schedules). There were two HR issues during the year… the staff concerned have settled and are working with (me) rather than against (me) – they are seeking (my) advice. There is better morale all round…. Team leaders now have a clearer understanding of what is expected of them.”

following services Profiling team members and team strengths Establishing team development and operating processes Assisting to provide the zip factor in team synergy Helping management improve its working relationships with

teams Facilitating high performance teams

We have developed a model of team effectiveness, which surveys the effectiveness of clients’ team performance and relates this to 17 critical success factors, within the five areas mentioned above. This forms the basis for intervention and development of a successful team.

"I was very pleased with the work Alan did with my team and me. Alan's preparation was thorough, and the interventions and activities on the day focused and effective. Alan achieved a good balance between the "soft" areas of strengths and styles of team members, and team relationships, and the edgier and more disciplined areas of team processes and systems. We had fun while never losing sight of the goal of improved performance. We were left with clear directions and actions for the future…” - Client Comment:

EMC’s Principal Philosophy

Alan Wilcox is an experienced strategist and consultant former Chief Executive and public sector manager. He has the ability to grasp situations, see them in overview and recommend creative and practical solutions which have long term and enduring effect.

Alan has worked in a broad range of areas from personal initiatives in property development, to education, health, transport local and regional government. He held executive management positions in Hamilton City and Environment Waikato and was the first Chief Executive of the New Zealand Land Transport Safety Authority.

EMC is a compact firm of a Principal, a small number of permanent staff and a range of highly and diversely skilled associates. EMC’s consultants draw on a wealth of capability developed by experience with many organisations.

While agile in the services we offer, we are fixed on a number of things that are dear to us, and which gives us our unique brand of consulting. In our assignments we work with our clients to:

Assist in developing inspiring directions so that they can relate what they do to their customers’ and community needs and to the world around them, see the broader picture and find meaning and purpose in what they do.

Promote universal and positive virtues in the work that we do, aim to assist all -especially the less advantaged, thereby contributing to social equity, meaning and value in life and work.

Introduce appropriate systems, procedures and structures to address the issues that face them and assure practical and enduring steps to achieving their vision.

Empower them as individuals and as organisations by providing knowledge and training to ensure changes are implemented and their organizations and customers needs are met.

Strive to implement the highest quality standards in all that we do together.

Introduce spirit, creativity and fun in all that we do.
