This is a new ophthalmic device designed to improve the accuracy and efficiency of corneal endothelial cell counts.
The Endothelial Cell Counter is an electronic solid state image storage device that instantly freezes a selected video image of the endothelial cell layer of the cornea. Using a "mouse," the ophthalmic surgeon electronically marks both normal and abnormal endothelial cells. Cell density is automatically computed. The cell density and cell population information, patient information, date and time of the examination, and video image can be down-loaded onto a video printer, personal computer, computer printer or videotape.
The Cell Counter is comprised of a cell counter processor, T.V. monitor, video camera, video printer, and a stand. The product simplifies and automates existing methods of endothelial cell counting, as well as improving accuracy. It replaces the laborious and inaccurate "grease pencil on acetate" system presently in use with precise electronic calculations. The image storage process is identical to the VCR freeze frame except that there are no mechanical moving parts to deteriorate and the image does not degrade as on a videotape recorder. The unit, which has time and date battery backup, interfaces with a PC or other computer, monitor, and/or printer with two RS232 ports.

Bio-Rad Ophthalmic Division Digilab VEP 100
The VEP 100 is a user-friendly computerized system designed to perform pattern VEP, flash VEP, pattern ERG, flash ERG and EOG tests. The Model 2000 consists of IBM/PC2 30 series with dual floppy drives, visual pattern stimulation and averager, high resolution printer, minature amplifiers, and isolation poser unit. Accessories include a video tape recorder, Ganzfeld stimulator and a strobe flash unit. Most operations are completed with a single keystroke. For transient VEP and ERG, the system automatically computes the latencies of the N1 and P1, the amplitude of N1 to P1 and includes these in the result printout. Special mode for testing the results of the Left and Right visual fields simultaneously with a single test run, reducing time of testing and patient fatigue. Stimulus units are controlled and driven by the averaging computer. This provides precise control of the stimulus and the averaging process is more accurate, especially in the steady state VEP, and its automatic analysis. Data Storage reduces test time for a subject; since the test sequences and parameters are saved, the instrument automatically sets up to the original test conditions when the patient is recalled.
Two channels are standard. Up to four channels are available. All channels are isolated and amplification of each is independent. This makes it possible to record pattern VEP and pattern ERG simultaneously with optimum gain setting for each response. Many other features exist including special features for testing children.
