The Department of Biochemistry was established in
1995 and since its inception it has continuously strived
for excellence in both teaching and research. At present,
it offers UG, PG, M.Phil and Ph.D Programmes in
Biochemistry. It has well equipped research laboratories
with sophisticated instruments to facilitate the
nourishment of scientific spirit among the students. The
Department is dedicated in providing a strong foundation
in the subject with an emphasis on interdisciplinary
approac1so aims at imparting conventional and new
knowledge in an innovative methodology ensuring the
enrichment of the young minds with novel thoughts. We
are always proud of our alumni, for they hold responsible
positions in India and abroad and have proved to be
assets to the Institutions to which they belong.
Biochemistry is the most rapidly developing and innovative
subject in Lifesciences and has its applications in various
fields. The discipline of Biochemistry serves as a torch light
to trace the intricate complexities of Biology, besides
unravelling the chemical mysteries of life. Advances in
Biochemistry have tremendous impact on Agriculture
which paves the way for enhancement in the stream of
Crop Cultivation using Genetic Engineering tools.

Academy of Sciences, Bengaluru in association with Indian
National Science Academy, New Delhi and The National
Academy of Sciences India, Allahabad organize
programmes for the improvement of science education in
Universities and Colleges throughout our country.
Short-duration Lecture Workshops form an important
segment of the activities under the Science Academies’
Programme, envisaged to benefit the teachers and
students at the Undergraduate, Postgraduate and
Research levels.
The Academy, founded in 1934, aims at the progress of
Science both in pure and applied branches. Its major
activities include publication of Scientific Journals and
Special volumes, organizing meetings of the fellows,
discussions on important topics, recognizing scientific
talent, improvement of Science Education and take up
other issues of concern to the scientific community.
The Indian National Science Academy established in
1935 with the sole objective of promoting Science in
India and harnessing scientific knowledge to the cause
of humanity and National welfare. It aims at publishing
Journals, organizing Scientific discussions and bringing
about Proceedings and Monographs.
The National Academy of Sciences India founded in
1930, is the oldest Science Academy of the country. The
main objective of the Academy is to provide a National
Forum for the publication of research work carried out by
Indian scientists and to provide opportunities for
exchange of views among them.
