Chairman Message
The progress and the development of the United Arab Emirates in all areas of life, the prominent role
and the good reputation enjoyed by the UAE in the international forums, all achieved thanks to the wise
leadership of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, may God bless him and his brother, His
Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler
of Dubai, and their brothers, Their Highnesses Supreme Council Members, rulers of the Emirates and their
insight into the pursuit of progress and prosperity of the UAE and its citizens.
To maintain this progress and prosperity that was the result of years of perseverance and hard work,
we in the Emirates Post Holding Group had to take a series of measures and develop the strategic and
operational plans to respond to all challenges facing our march towards progress in all our work, bearing in
mind that we are an integral part of a federal integrated system where each unit extends its support to the
other units within the system.
The Group’s performance during the year 2009 was balanced with a number of steps we have taken that
have contributed to the consolidation of our position in spite of the great challenges that we faced. All
business units achieved good results and contributed positively to the overall performance of the group.
We made a comprehensive review of our strategy focusing primarily on the performance of each unit in
order to achieve long-term growth, and we expect significant progress during 2010.
The restructuring of the group and the organization of its interests in line with the announced strategies
ushers in a new phase of work and another chapter of the postal business in the UAE in line with the
requirements of this stage in a way to review what has been done and improve services in response to the
changing environment.
Restructuring means reorganization of the interests of the group in a way that allows it to deal positively
with the object ives aiming at providing better and high quality services, in addition to strengthening of
the human resources in order to respond to the new transformation witnessed by the group in terms of
consolidation of the efforts and actions, to achieve integration in the structure in a way that contributes to

President Message
Our achievements in 2009, are a clear example of the expertise and efficiency enjoyed by our team. We
are happy that our results over the past year were in accordance with previous forecasts, which show an
improvement in profits from one quarter to another throughout the year. In spite of the repercussions of
the current economic crisis on all sectors, the Group has maintained its positive performance throughout
the year as we protect our business from the effects of that crisis through a limited expansion internally and
externally, and through a conservative strategy that contributed to our progress cautiously, without prejudice
to the development process and the overall progress made by all units of the Group in recent years.
Despite the imposing requirements and conditions of competition, our units have continued their efforts
to reduce operating expenses in a manner that does not affect the quality of services provided, and the
emphasis was on raising operational efficiency. The Group made a concerted effort to provide unique and
comprehensive services to its customers and the application of its strategy in line with the growth and
development in the services provided and the aspirations of its valued customers.
When we say that we give great importance and regard for the quality and efficiency of our team, we
mean it, since our employees are our true representatives. They have contributed to our progress and
excellence in the areas of our business. In terms of the attention to human resources and the internal work
environment, the Group has provided several training programs aimed at improving the performance of
employees, the development of the internal work environment, as well as roll out a new organizational
structure based on national capacities within the group for the purpose of implementation of our
strategies.
The group also confirmed during the year 2009 its commitment to social responsibility that contributes to
the sustainable development of our country through its continued support for many of the national and
social events throughout the year.
The above is a quick glance that highlights the mechanism of our work environment and shows the levels
of commitment, competence and expertise of our staff. In conclusion, I must thank all the staff of the
Group for their continued efforts, as well as the members of the Group’s Board of Directors for their efforts
in developing the Group’s policy and road map towards progress and prosperity.
