Exporting Data for TEISS

• EIS will allow exports of YOUR data• State data requires state permission

for READ access

14

A snapshot (facility and emissions) gives you detailed information to include units, processes and release points in a format to import into TEISS

Page 15: Emissions Inventory System (EIS) Overview and Exporting Data from the EIS

15

First select the Facility Snapshot bar.

Navajo

For a facility snapshot, select the agencyof interest. I am signed on as North Carolinabut notice that I have access to additionalagencies which have allowed me to READtheir data.

Page 17: Emissions Inventory System (EIS) Overview and Exporting Data from the EIS

17

Next select the data category. In this case it would be Facility Inventory.

Page 18: Emissions Inventory System (EIS) Overview and Exporting Data from the EIS

18

There are two links available, request and download. If request is selecteda new snapshot will be generated overnight. If you select Download, you will download the latest snapshot generated on the Last Generation Date.

When you select “Download”, a box will open with a link to the file.Select that link and the File Download box will open. Select “Save” andselect the location for the file. Files are downloaded in a zipped file format. To import these files into TEISS, the files must be unzipped and thexml file extracted to your directory.

Emissions Summary by Geography• Used to look at point, nonpoint, onroad, and

nonroad• Runs every 15 minutes and downloads in .csv• Reports can be done on a national, regional,

state/tribe, or county level• Reports can be done by Data Category (Point,

Page 25: Emissions Inventory System (EIS) Overview and Exporting Data from the EIS

25

There are additional reports which can be used for analysis. Thesereports cannot be uploaded into TEISS, but open in Excel. Oneof the best reports is the emissions summary by geography report.

Page 26: Emissions Inventory System (EIS) Overview and Exporting Data from the EIS

26

At the top of the page are highlighteditems which are required to be selectedto run the summary report. For this examplewe will use the State/Tribal by SCC

Page 27: Emissions Inventory System (EIS) Overview and Exporting Data from the EIS

27

Next you need to select the datasetthat you wish to summarize. You caneither select what your agency has submitted,or you may select the dataset representingwhat EPA will publish on our public website. These selections will be a combination of bothagency data and EPA data.

Page 28: Emissions Inventory System (EIS) Overview and Exporting Data from the EIS

28

Next you are required to select either a specific pollutant code by usingthe search box; or you may use the preselected groups represented byActive CAPS; Active HAPs, etc. For this example we have selected NOx.Next you have additional filters, such as a specific agency, data category, sector, or SCC. When selections are done, select Run Report or RequestDownload.

If you select “Run Report”, reportis returned to screen where you candownload immediately by using:Download Results: CSV. If your selectionis too large; you will receive a messagethat you must Request a Download. These reports are generated overnight.

Emissions Summaries by Facility• A report that gives you emissions summed to

facility, unit, process or release point level• Reports run every 15 minutes, available in .csv

format under Report Downloads on sidebar.• .csv may be imported easily into Excel

spreadsheet or Access database• Reports can also be done by Facility Type, NAICS

or SCC• Cannot be imported into TEISS

Page 33: Emissions Inventory System (EIS) Overview and Exporting Data from the EIS

33

Select “By Facility” under Emission Summaries.

Page 34: Emissions Inventory System (EIS) Overview and Exporting Data from the EIS

34

Required filters are highlighted. Forour example, we will select a facilitylevel report.

Page 35: Emissions Inventory System (EIS) Overview and Exporting Data from the EIS

35

Next, a dataset needs to be selected.similar to the emissions summary. You mayselect a specific inventory year for youragency or EPA’s public selection.

Page 36: Emissions Inventory System (EIS) Overview and Exporting Data from the EIS

36

The last required filter is pollutant code.Additional optional filters are then availableto refine your selection. Then selectRun Report or Request Download.

Submitting Your Data• In TEISS, indicate if you are sending data to QA Environment or

Production before exporting• What is the QA Environment?

– Codes– Required Data Elements– Ranges– Conditional Checks

• What is the Production Environment?– Official submission– Same checks as the QA Environment

• Zip your exported xml file from TEISS• Open the Web Client

Page 38: Emissions Inventory System (EIS) Overview and Exporting Data from the EIS

38

Use your same login and passwordthat you use for the EIS Gateway. Change the Domain to “IAMLdap”

Page 39: Emissions Inventory System (EIS) Overview and Exporting Data from the EIS

39

Select “EIS” on the sidebar.

Page 40: Emissions Inventory System (EIS) Overview and Exporting Data from the EIS

40Browse for the zipped xml file which you exported from TEISS. Alsoadd your email address to the Notify box. Then click Submit.

Notifications• Two emails from CDX

• Pending• Processed or Failed

• Validation of File Format

• One email from “noreply”• Notification that file has gone through QA

and feedback report is available for review

Feedback Reports• Important sections

• Statistics• Critical Errors

• Informational• Warning Errors

• What do you do if you receive critical errors?• Correct them in TEISS• Export a new xml file• Zip the file• Send again

Page 46: Emissions Inventory System (EIS) Overview and Exporting Data from the EIS

The statistics page is one of the most importantpages of the feedback report. The number of addsshould equal the number of records submitted. Another important page is the Critical Errorsworksheet. All errors on this page must be rectifiedprior of submission to Production.
