EMJD ICE overview

EMJD ICE is one of the 34 Joint Doctorates funded by the

Education, Audiovisual & Culture Executive Agency (EACEA)

of the European Commission (in 2009 and 2011) and it is the

only one highly focused on the ICT sector

The course formally lasts three years, however an extension

is foreseen in order to uphold the thesis defense within the

first six month of the fourth year

Candidates will spend training / research periods in at least

two different institutions

ICE offers PhD candidates a complete education program in

the field of computer science, electronic and

telecommunication engineering and industrial design

Study and develop innovative ICT concepts, algorithms,

services to enable multi-user interactions in multi-

sensor physical environments for improving quality of

life, supporting human everyday tasks and fulfilling

urgent society needs
