Recent History Of Cambodia • 1975 to 1979 Khmer Rouge in Control.
Education Destroyed. • 1980 TO Mid 1990’s Ongoing Civil War in
Cambodia while several parties fought for control of the Country.
• Mid 1990’s Stability returned to Cambodia and the rebuild of the Education system began
• 2,000 to now Assistance from Overseas donors to rebuild Education.
• National Education System 6+3+3+4

Svay Rieng University is a centre for quality in education and research.
To provide students with the knowledge and ethical standards to enable them to
make a positive contribution to the economic and social development of
Cambodia and of the region.
To provide educational and research opportunities at provincial level to people who would find it difficult to access
tertiary education.

• While the location gives us a large number of students it makes in hard to get Teachers
• Quality and Standard of Education still Improving to meet International Standards
• Financial Constraints on the ability to attract and retain Top teachers.
• Only One Foreign Teacher • Ability of English is at low level

TG3 Asians of the countries of the partnership in vulnerable situations [TG3]. It may cover mobility for students holding the respective nationality and:
– Having a refugee status or asylum beneficiaries (international or according to the national legislation of one of the European recipient countries), or
– Being able to prove that they have been the object of unjustified expulsion from university on racial, ethnic, religious, political, gender or sexual inclination reasons, or
– Belonging to an indigenous population targeted by a specific national policy.

How to attract TG3 Cohorts • Over the last 6 years we have targeted female
ss and now have female ss as 43.51 % of the total
• 15% scholarship given to the poor each year through MoEYS
• 31 scholarship with 14 females supported by World Bank via SPS
• Students come from poor rural backgrounds and meet requirements.

How to attract TG3 Cohorts • Department of Higher Education (DHE) • Work with local authority: commune and or village
chief • Work with Local NGOs: CCPCR, REDA, Child fund,
KYA, Orphan Centre • We have just started to select students to increase
their ability to become a TG3 Scholarship recipient. • Study tour to where TG3 live • Provide extra class for TG3 • Set up an Office where information mainly focus
on Scholarship, esp for TG3 • Cambodian Centre for the Protection of Children Rights, Rural Economic Development Association
