When something in your life is exciting, you will tell others.

LIKE GIANNA IS IN LOVE WITH MEGAN FOX

EMPHASIS

This principle deals with dominance.

In works of art, visual emphasis is placed on the most important parts of the work- also called the focal points.

Other things in the artwork may be important, but we look in the focal area to see what the artist emphasized.

EMPHASIS by Contrast

Where is the focal point in Wassily Kandinsky’s, Composition VII ?

Value, Size, Detail

Kandinsky emphasized the large black circle in the upper left corner of his work. The object is different from everything else in the painting and therefore it "stands out".

EMPHASIS by Contrast

In Francisco Goya’s, The Shootings of May Third 1801, where is the area of emphasis?

Page 7: EMPHASIS

Contrast of Value and Pattern

Goya "lights" up the painting in much the same way a spotlight lights up the actors on a stage. Goya creates a very light value around the area he wants you to see. The man in the white shirt is the focal point of the painting. He uses value contrast to emphasize this area.

EMPHASIS by Isolation

Isolation- focal point is created by putting an object alone from a group.

EMPHASIS by Placement

An object placed in the center will often be perceived as a focal point. If all eyes in the painting look at one object, or if an object is placed at the center of the lines of perspective, that object will be perceived as the focus of the work.
