Welcome to the first newsletter for this chapter year! Thanks to Barbara Buckbee and Jennifer Gallagher for stepping up and putting this together for us. Please share it with your friends and colleagues. We will also post this on our webpage, so consider placing your business card in here – for only $25 for the year, it is truly a bargain!
We had a great start to the chapter year! In August, we “Turned Actions into Results” with a peak performance session featuring Justin Nelson, a Tony Robbins strategist. In September, in the aftermath of the hurricane, we faced a much nicer Irma – Irma Parone – who taught us some tricks for getting more referrals. Then Dr. Jene’ Kapela led us in an interesting exercise to determine our unique leadership style at our October meeting. Our meetings just keep getting better and better!
NOTE: We will move our November meeting to the 4th Tuesday, due to Thanksgiving week. So please mark your calendars for Tuesday, November 28th at Café Vico. Our own Ginnie Hebb will be presenting “Financial Strategies for Women – Dispelling the Myths!” Don’t miss it!
October is coming to a close and the holidays are upon us. Where has the time gone? In the season of Thanksgiving, I am blessed and thankful for the support of this chapter and the friendships we are creating. With your help we can keep growing – spread the word!

Chapter Initiatives… This year’s board has a focus on growing membership during its 2017-2018 year. Membership is crucial for the longevity of the chapter and ability to continue to provide quality professional and personal enrichment programs. Social programs put on by the chapter will have incentives to encourage current members to bring guests. After guests attend events a new process has been put in place to ensure each potential member feels regularly connected from the get go. There are still multiple open spots on committees that need to be filled. The board is encouraging all members to take an active role, no matter how small or large in our chapter this year. If you would like to know more information as to what positions are specifically open please do not hesitate to reach out to the board.

Nutrition Tips for Healthy Living
Here are some basic things we all can do to be healthy and enjoy good nutrition. 1. Hydration: Many people go through their day not drinking any water. Water is
extremely important to the body. Caffeinated beverages do not count as water! Helpful hint-Buy a water bottle to keep on your desk at work and fill it up first thing
in the morning. Add a slice of lemon, lime or orange for flavor.
2. Vegetables: Green vegetables are the number one thing missing from the American diet. Greens provide vitamins, minerals and fiber, which give us energy. There are hundreds of different vegetables available which change seasonally. Try a vegetable that you have not eaten before. If you hate spinach don’t eat it, eat the ones you like. Most vegetables can be cooked in just 5-10 minutes by steaming or boiling.
Helpful Hint- If you really don’t want to cook, prepared vegetables can be
purchased from deli’s, and grocery stores.
3. Sugar: Sugar gives us temporary energy and then we come crashing down. Too much sugar adds on the pounds and can lead to diabetes. It’s in a lot of our food and we don’t even realize it. There are tons of sugar in breakfast cereals and muffins, frozen dinners and beverages (sodas, ice teas, alcohol).
Helpful Hint- Eat natural forms of sugar such as fresh fruit, carrots and sweet
potatoes. For a healthy alternative to soda try unsweetened coconut water which is super high in potassium.
4. Whole Grains: Refined white flour sends our blood sugar soaring and then we crash. This is because all the vitamins and fiber have been stripped from the grain.
Helpful Hint- Eat whole wheat breads, barley and quinoa.
Natalie Schneider is a health & nutrition coach who works with individuals and groups who want to have more energy, lose weight and learn how to eat healthy. She has given presentations on Sugar Blues and Eating for Energy at health clubs and corporations throughout the New York & Florida areas More information about Ms. Schneider can be found at: (www.nataliewellness.com)
