Summary
INTRODUCTION:
For safety reasons, acids and bases must be stored in safety cabinets in order to prevent any risk of leaks or breakages of bottles.
You must also pay attention that different product families must be separated in compartments or stored into different cabinets. Some of our
cabinets are divided in compartments, allowing storage of different product families.
This catalogue presents our range of safety cabinets for several corrosives solutions of storage. Whatever your field of activity may be
(laboratory, industry, warehouse, production unit,…), if you store corrosives (little to extremely corrosives), you must store them in safety
cabinets. Do not hesitate to contact us for a personal and quick advice.
What is a safety cabinet for corrosives?
Two different types of storage can be proposed concerning corrosives:
The first type, dedicated to slightly corrosive products, are steel safety cabinets with high resistant paint. These cabinets offer additional
protection in high density polyethylene or PVC for the shelves and the bottom retention tank.
The second type, dedicated to high corrosive products (such as nitric, sulfuric, hydrochloric or fluorhydric acids) are cabinets made in high
density polyethylene or cellular PVC. These materials offer the perfect resistance to corrosives vapours.
Is forced ventilation needed?
A forced ventilation is a prerequisite in order to improve the life cycle and the safety of a steel cabinet. Indeed, despite the fact that the steel is
protected by a resistant epoxy paint, nothing can protect against the possibility of corrosion inside a steel safety cabinet. Moreover, to protect
the users health, it is highly recommended to install an exhausting system, whatever the material used for the cabinet, in order to eliminate any
concentration of dangerous vapours inside the cabinet. We invite you to have a look at the different vent solutions proposed (fan, exhausting
system, filtration by active coal, etc…) at the end of this catalogue to find the right one adapted to your needs. Do not hesitate to contact us for
any information.
NORMALIZATION:
FM (FACTORY MUTUAL):
Offers worldwide industrial and commercial product certification and testing services through its business unit FM
Approvals. Recognized and respected across the globe, FM Approvals certification assures customers that a product
or service has been objectively tested and complies to the highest national and international standards.
EUROPEAN NORM EN 14470-1:
It is applicable for storage of flammable and highly flammable chemicals in a laboratory. The flammables used in
laboratories must be stored in one or several safety cabinets which are fire resistant 15 (minimum required), 30, 60
or 90 minutes.
NF X 15-211 - MAI 2009 NORM:
The standard indicate on the ventilation and filtration efficiency, as well as the Containment efficiency for the
recirculatory fume hood designed for chemicals use in laboratories.
