  • Bird watching

It is some time since our group have been birdwatching due to weather conditions , but we finally made it to Brandon Reserve on the 30th of January. We began at the centre’s feeding station and had good views of male and female Greater Spotted Woodpeckers:see photo. Also seen were Reed Bunting, male and female, and a Nuthatch.

Moving out onto the reserve some of species seen were Kingfisher in flight, Little Egret, Shell Duck and a Great Black

Backed Gull which has a wing span of 5 feet. In total 36 species were spotted.

Last year we asked our group to record the number of different birds they had seen throughout the year ,the winner was Pam Lane with 111. So that's the target to beat in2020.
