Chinese for AS aims to lead the student of
Chinese from GCSE to AS level as far asvocabulary, grammar and cultural
content areconcerned. The book is divided into 4 units. The
topic ofeach of these corresponds to one of the sections of Edexcel ‘s new specification.
Each unit includes a revision section for
further testing and quizzes on general
knowledge of China.

Chinese for AS Unit 1 Food, diet and health ：第一课 《银河外卖店》对英国本土学生来讲，了解中国食品几乎都是从身边的中国的外卖店和 饭店开始的。第二课《烧烤晚会》 Barbecue 活动是英国夏天生活中一抹亮丽的色彩，学生有用中文说他们 熟悉的食品的需求。教学生想学的，能起 到事半功倍的作用。第三课《热闹的早晨》中国普通百姓的生活是离不开早晨的菜市场的。五颜六色的瓜果菜蔬和 各色点心， 退休的老人在公园的晨练，给 外国游客们留下了深刻的印象。
第四课《健康与长寿》关于健康保健，中国民间有很多朗朗上口，明白易懂的俗语 例如：“早饭要吃饱，午饭要吃好， 晚饭要吃好”、“不抽烟少喝酒，人 人活到九十九” 、“七八分饱，百岁 不老”。第五课《中医中药》中文教材谈中国人的健康保健，就绕不开中医中药。但是同样 在 AS 的教材中介绍中医， 内容的取舍 也不相同。
针灸的针法是使用不同长度的针，按一定穴位，刺入病人体内以治疗疾病。灸法是把特殊植物的叶子燃烧，然后按一定穴位，靠近皮肤或放在皮肤上，利用热的刺激来治疗疾病。…… 针灸后几秒钟之内，患者大脑中的特定区域，血流会逐步减少，让该区域镇静下来。
“ 中医用传统的五行“金、木、水、火、土来代表人的肺、肾、肝、心、胃。中医认为生病是因为阴阳五行的平衡出了问题。… .. 中医经过“望、闻、问、切后，中医就会开药方，请你去中药药房配药。中药的主要成分是植物、也有些动物和矿物。中药的作用是让阴阳五行得到平衡。”
* 作为教材，特别是要为刚考完 GCSE 的母语非语的学生选择教材，必须要有字、词和句的基础训练。没有扎实的地基和足够的砖瓦，怎么建得高楼大厦？解决从 GCSE 到 AS 的过渡，关键一是教材，关键二就是教法。 以第一课为例，谈一下我自己在第一课时中所用的教学方法，只是为起到抛砖引玉的作用。

* 问学生如果去中国外卖店或中国饭店，你最喜欢或最想吃什么，由此导 入新词的教学。
* 在 GCSE 教材中已经学过“海鲜”， AS 学生需要在此基础上增加具体的词汇。先问学生们熟悉或喜欢哪些海鲜，然后选择第一课课文出现并要教授的新词汇将图片一一列出，再一边出生词，一边朗读。同时请学生看着已经打开的书写软件，依照正确书写比划跟写生字。
