Many have stated that it is impossible to know whether ornot we are living in the last days before the second comingof Jesus Christ. However, below you will find dramaticproof that this is the last times. All of the proofs below

taken together defy coincidence.

1. EUPHRATES RIVER TO BE DRIED UP: InRevelation 16:12,the Bible predictsthat the EuphratesRiver will be driedup to prepare theway for the kingsof the east to in-vade Israel. Thiswill happen at the

time of the battleof Armageddonaccording to verse16 of the same

chapter. The battle of Armageddon will be the final battle atwhich time Jesus Christ will return and fight on the side ofthe nation of Israel. Immediately thereafter He will estab-lish His kingdom and usher in His 1000-year reign ofpeace.On January 13th, 1990, the Indianapolis Star carried theheadline Turkey will cut off flow of Euphrates for 1month. The article stated that a huge reservoir had beenbuilt by Turkey. While filling up the reservoir, the flow of

the Euphrates would be stopped for one month and a con-crete plug for a diversion channel built. These things havenow been done. With this newly built dam, Turkey has theability to stop the Euphrates River at will. The conditionsfor fulfilling this 1900 year old prophecy are now in place!

2. CHINA GOES TO WAR: In Revelation 9:15-16, the Bible prophesies that an army of 200 million

soldiers will launch awar which will killthe third part ofmen. Never in the

history of the world,until our present gen-eration, has therebeen a power onearth that could field200 million soldiers.However, the lateruler of China, MaoTsetung boasted inhis diary that he

could field an army of 200 million. We see that thisprophecy pertaining to the very last times could not everhave been fulfilled until now.

3. WORLDWIDE NUMBERING SYSTEM PRE-DICTED: In Revelation chapter 13, the Bible prophesiesthat a world dictator will soon rule over a world govern-ment. He will cause all people on the earth to receive a

number without which they will be unable to buy or sell.We are seeing this prophecy fulfilled before our eyes in amost astonishing way. Nearly every human being in theworld now has been assigned a number. In America it is oursocial security number. In the last few years we have seenthis number extended to small children. A child without asocial security number cannot be declared as a dependent onan income tax return. We have seen the emergence of elec-tronic money, shopping with credit cards, and many peopleare urging the abolishment of cash. All of these things couldnot possibly have been fulfilled until this present time. Onlyafter the invention of the computer could such a worldwidenumbering system be administered.

4. THE EMERGENCE OF A NEW WORLDORDER: Revelation 13:7 and Daniel 7:23 prophesy theestablishment of aworld government.We recently haveseen the term newworld order beingused by the leadingpolitical people of ourworld. MikhailGorbachev has madethe term famous, and

Pope John Paul II hasreferred to it repeat-edly. Finally ourformer President,George Bush, in theChicago Tribune, September 12, 1990, said Iraq is thefirst test for the new world order. He stated emphaticallythat the Iraq War is Saddam Hussein against the world. TheUnited Nations troops are continually referred to as themulti-national forces. The decision has been made to estab-lish an interdependent community of nations that will rulethe world under United Nations authority. The Bible says

that this will lead us into a great world government. We cansee this happening right before our eyes.

COINCIDENCE OR DIVINE PROVIDENCE? TheEuphrates River can be dried up, the necessary 200 millionman army is available, a worldwide numbering system ispossible because of the computer, and now the new worldorder is appearing.

Is it coincidental that all of these major prophecies pertain-ing to the last times are being fulfilled simultaneously?

Hardly!

n the past month, we have wit-nessed a quantum shift in the powerstructures of our world. This shiftwill affect the future of the worldand will lead directly to the fulfill-

ment of the prophecies of the Bible.The most powerful nation on earth,

the United States, just experienced, ifpromises can be believed, a radicalchange in direction.

Bill Clinton was such an advocate forworld government that he was given the

Charlemagne Award. He also called forthe establishment of a world court systemin his speech before the United NationsGeneral Assembly in September of 1997.That vision is now ominously close to re-

alization.On the other hand, President George

W. Bush promised that, under his admin-istration, not one U.S. citizen wouldserve under a UN commander. He alsofavors bringing our soldiers home fromthe far-flung engagements in which theyare deployed on behalf of the WorldCommunity.

At the same time the United Stateswas doing its about-face, the center forendtime prophetic fulfillment, Israel, un-derwent a 180-degree change ofdirection.

In the spring of 1999, Israelis voted forliberal Ehud Barak and the peace processby a record margin. His victory overBenjamin Netanyahu was by an unprece-dented 12 percent. Twenty months later,the conservative opponent of the OsloPeace Accords, Ariel Sharon, defeatedBarak by an incredible 25 percent mar-gin! This is an amazing 37 percent swingin the Israeli electorate within a mere 20months. Sharons victory cannot be de-

scribed as a landslide. It must be viewedas a shocking political EARTHQUAKE!But what is the cause behind this suddenreversal in the nations direction?

Since the signing of the Oslo Accordson September 13, 1993, many Israelishad believed that peace was possiblewith Yasser Arafat and the Palestinians.They chose to ignore the fact thatArafat, five days after signing the OsloAgreement, made a speech in

Johannesburg, South Africa, in which hesaid he had only made peace temporarily

in order to prepare for future struggleagainst Israel. They closed their eyes tomaps used by the Palestinians thatshowed the Middle East without the na-tion of Israel depicted at all. Whenterrorist bombers killed Israelis and thenwere eulogized as martyrs by Arafat,Israelis kept believinghopingin thepeace process.

But then came the straw that brokethe camels back. On July 11, 2000,President Clinton convened a summit at

Camp David with Ehud Barak and YasserArafat. Expectations were high. Thesummit ground on for two weeks. Thenews was that a comprehensive peaceagreement was within reach. On July25th, the talks broke down.

Once reports began to be publishedabout what went on at Camp David,Israelis were shocked. Barak had offeredto return 100 percent of the territory cap-tured in the 1967 War, to re-divide

Jerusalem and to permanently surrendersovereignty over the Temple Mount.

Israelis were finding it hard to believethat an Israeli Prime Minister had beenwilling to give away the holiest site inIsraelthe place of the First and SecondTemples and the place where JehovahGod said that He would put His name.

But the thing that brought on the mas-sive shift in Israeli public opinion was

not that Barak offered more than almostanyone thought any Israeli PrimeMinister ever would. It was the fact thatYasser Arafat turned it down! Arafatsteadfastly demanded the right for fivemillion Palestinians to return to homeswithin Israels pre-1967 borders.

When Arafat turned down the bestpeace offer he can ever hope to get, anddemanded what could only be deliveredby the annihilation of the nation ofIsrael, Israelis realized that Arafatsspeech in Johannesburg was not propa-

ganda. It was what Arafat reallyintended. He would never make peace aslong as the nation of Israel existed in theMiddle East.

As this realization dawned on Israelis,the violence they had received in returnfor the best peace offer they had ever pre-sented to the Palestinians started tomake sense to them. It also drove themto the obvious conclusion: We dontneed a peacemaker for a leader, since wedont have anyone to make peace with.We need a leader of strength that knowshow to impose peace on an unwillingenemy. Thus the sweeping electoral vic-tory of new Prime Minister Ariel Sharon.

Prophetic implicationsProphecy students have believed for

years that the confirmation of thecovenant would be some kind of peacedeal struck between Palestinians andIsraelis. The puzzling thing about thistheory is that the conflict obviously con-tinues in the West Bank (Judea) during

the three and one-half years of the GreatTribulation (Matthew 24:15-21). Thisconflict ultimately escalates into theBattle of Armageddon at the end of thefinal three and one-half years. This beingtrue, it makes us think that a peace willnever be concluded between Israel andthe Palestinians. Perhaps the confirm-ing of the covenant is internationalacceptance of the unilateral separationthat Israel may be forced to impose be-cause of Yasser Arafats intransigence.

Could it be that while Sharon imposes

unilateral separation on the Palestinians,Sharons Foreign Minister Shimon Pereswill win the recognition and the ap-proval of the International Communityfor these actions?

This would also explain why theInternational Community still is a factorthree and one-half years after the con-firmation of the covenant. Scripturestates that the dominant internationalleader at that time, the Antichrist, willstand in the rebuilt Jewish temple claim-ing sovereignty there.

We cannot conclude with absolute

certainty the course that events in theMiddle East will take. However thingscome down, we do know the TempleMount will be shared between Jew andGentile, Israel will build her temple, theAntichrist will stand in the rebuilt tem-ple claiming to be God, great tribulationwill rage throughout Judea (the WestBank) and the United Nations will fi-nally invade Israel for the Battle ofArmageddon.

Though we dont know how we getfrom here to there, it does promise to bea wild ride! So hang on!

Have Communists Always Led World Army?

I dont know if I heard this on your broadcast, but I recallsome sliver of information somewhere that every person whohas ever been in charge of the United Nations armed forces(whatever its fancy name is) has been a socialist/communist.Do you know if this is true? And if so, is this some sort of re-quirement in the UNs Constitution? Thank you, and keep upthe good work.

Reply: It is true that communists have always controlled thearmed forces of the UN. This special arrangement was made

when the United Nations was originally set up. The firstSecretary General of the UN, Trygve Lie, stated that this un-derstanding was verbally agreed to by the Soviet Union and theUnited States. This information was disclosed in Lies book, Inthe Cause of Peace.

Who Holds the Keys to World Government?

Who in the future will hold the keys to the one-world gov-ernment. Is it the European Union, the United Nations orRussia? In one article you said the UN, but in another Russia.

Reply: Right now, the United States is probably the dominantinfluence in the activities of the World Community. However,

prophecy seems to indicate that the center of power will swing toRussia and the European Union in the near future. We knowthis because Great Britain and Russia are represented in the lastday world government of the Antichrist as it is depicted inRevelation 13:1-2. Notice that the combined beast in this pas-sage has the mouth of the lion, which is the symbol of GreatBritain, and the feet of the bear, which is the symbol of Russia.Furthermore, Ezekiel 38 specifically indicates that Russia will

lead the nations of the world in the invasion of Israel at the timeof the Battle of Armageddon. The global power structure ofRevelation 13 will definitely work through the structures of theUnited Nations. Will the Antichrist know he is the Antichrist?

No one knows who the Antichrist is going to be, but doeshe know now? Will he know when he assumes this role? Yourentire staff is in my prayers.

Reply: I dont believe the Man of Sin knows that he is theAntichrist. I doubt that he will ever acknowledge who he is. It ismuch more likely that he will see himself as the Messiah.Scripture tells us that he will end up claiming to be God. The rea-son he will be so skillful at leading people into deception is becausehe will be so thoroughly deceived himself.

And more earthquakes

How many earthquakes do you see happening in theendtime? It says in Revelation 11:13 that within an hour ofthe return of life to the witnesses, there is a great earthquakethat knocks down a tenth of the city. That is not part of theBattle, is it? In verse 15 it says the 7th angel sounded and (atthat moment?) the kingdoms of this world are become thekingdoms of our Lord. Verse 18 then says, thou shouldgive reward unto thy servants... Does that happen during theend of the tribulation? Because verse 19 says that there werelightings, voices, thunderings, and earthquake and great hail.Which one of these earthquakes is the same one spoken of byChrist in Matthew 24?

Reply: Though earthquakes in different places is one of thesigns of the endtime, the earthquake to which you refer happensimmediately after the tribulation of those days (Matthew24:29). This is the same earthquake referred to at the 7thTrumpet, at the Battle of Armageddon and at the SecondComing when the Mount of Olives will split in two.

Kurdish Friends Verify Meaning of Saddam

Ive heard you say on the radio more than once thatSaddam means destroyer. How do you know this? Didyou simply look it up in an English-Arabic dictionary? Didsomeone tell you this?

I am guessing his name is Arabic since thats what he speaks,according to a Kurdish family we know well who fled Iraq andHussein in 1993. We also know from our Kurdish friends thatpeople in that country do indeed name their children forthings. Some of their children are named Jiyan (life),Raveen (running), Delsosh (heart pain), and Herman (westay in tents)all based on what was happening to them atthe time.

If Saddam indeed means destroyer, that is significant be-cause of what is in the Bible, especially about the last years ofthis age. I am careful to be sure my information is accurate, sothat is why Im asking you. I am also going to ask my Kurdishfriends, who speak a little bit of Arabic, if they know whatSaddam means.

Cashless Society?

I hear on your program and others about the cashless soci-ety that will be in place when the Anti-Christ comes on thescene. I do not see this in the Bible anywhere. I believe it isjust assumed.

Does the Bible allow for the possibility that we will stillhave cash as we have now, but the mark will be used to verifya persons identity?

Reply: The scripture that implies a cashless society is Revelation13:16-17, And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and

poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in theirforeheads: And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had themark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.

Since a credit card number or a Personal IdentificationNumber has been required for cashless transactions, many haveassumed that the entire worlds system will become cashless dur-ing the time of the Antichrist. However, it may be possible thatsome cash transactions could still take place. It is hard to control

economic activity when cash is available. If we were in a totallycashless society, then every transaction could be monitored andeither allowed or rejected. That appears to be the kind of a soci-ety that will exist during the time of the Great Tribulation.

Dont want to wait forever

In what window of time must the peace deal, the Antichrist,the war with China, etc. take place in order for the Bible to betrue? For instance, if Israel is destroyed by an earthquake, is theBible rendered fallible and worthless? If no peace deal is madein fifty years, is the Bible to be discarded?

I am looking for a scriptural cap on time so that we dontwait forever for something that will not happen for anotherhundred years or ever. I am not satisfied to be led on and onwithout some hope of relief.

Reply: I may not be able to give you the time-frame for which you

are asking. However, we have many signs today that we have neverhad before, which indicate that we are very close to the SecondComing of Jesus. Let me list a few prophetic fulfillments concerningthe endtime that are coming to pass today, but could not have been

fulfilled just ten years ago: A cashless society was impossible untilthe invention of the computer and the advent of the Internet; Thedrying up of the Euphrates River became possible as of January 13,1990; A possible army of 200 million soldiers has only existed as ofthe year 2000 according to the CIA Fact Book of 1999; The birthof the United Religions on June 26, 2000.

Other prophetic fulfillments that have only occurred during thelast generation are: The rebirth of the nation of Israel; The fall ofthe Berlin Wall; And the creation of a world governmental sys-

temthe United Nations.There are many more evidences that we are the generation

that shall not pass until all things be fulfilled. These are some ofthe amazing prophetic fulfillments that make me believe Jesus willreturn to earth during my generation.

When the United

Nations parti-tioned the HolyLand betweenIsraelis and

Palestinians in 1947, the ownership ofJerusalem was so hotly contested that

the city was given special status. TheUN decided to declare Jerusalem aninternational city under United

Nations control.Israel didnt like this arrangement,

of course, since Jerusalem had alwaysbeen her capital. However, Israel sodesperately wanted to be re-estab-lished as a nation after 2,000 years ofexile that she decided to take whatshe could get. She accepted the UNplan.

On the other hand, the Arabs

adamantly refused to even considerthe partition plan. They insisted that

Jews needed to be driven out of theMiddle East altogether.

The UN plan was implemented onMay 14, 1948. All of Israels Arabneighbors launched a war against thenew-born state the very next day. Toeveryones amazement, the tiny na-tion of Israel, with a population of600,000, defeated the Arab armies,which represented 42 million people.

When the cease-fire lines were fi-nally drawn in 1949, Israel controlledWest Jerusalem, and the nation of

Jordan occupied East Jerusalem,which includes the Temple Mountthe coveted site of the ancient holyplaces. In 1950, Jerusalem became thecapital of the State of Israel.

This status of Jerusalem was main-tained until the 1967 War when Israelcaptured the entirety of the city andthe territory all the way to the JordanRiver. Shortly after this war, Israel de-

clared Jerusalem the eternal,undivided capital of the State ofIsrael.

The UN, however, still harborsdreams of a Jerusalem under UN con-trol. Consequently, Israel is the onlynation on earth whose capital the UNrefuses to recognize. The resistance ofthe United Nations against Jerusalemas Israels capital has been so strongthat every nation in the world, exceptfor two, has refused to place its em-bassy there. They all put their

embassies in Tel Aviv. The two na-

tions that have placed their embassiesin Jerusalem are Costa Rica and ElSalvador.

Those who oppose moving the em-bassy have said that the United Stateswould lose its role as an impartial me-diator in the Middle East if this action

were taken. However, it should benoted that the planned site for theU.S. Embassy is in West Jerusalem,not East Jerusalem. So the issue thathas kept our embassy in Tel Avivsince 1950 is not whether Israelshould return East Jerusalem to thePalestinians. It is whether Israel has aright to be in Jerusalem at all!

Again, the UNs claim to jurisdic-tion over Jerusalem as aninternational city rears its ugly head.The issue is simply thisdoes Israel

have a right to be in Jerusalem at all

or should it be surrendered to the con-trol of the United Nations. It has longbeen a puzzlement to Americans andIsraelis alike why the United Statesclaims to be Israels best friend and yetrefuses to recognize her capital. Theanswer is simple. The U.S. has fol-

lowed this course in deference to theUN.

The Jerusalem Embassy ActDuring the 90s, sentiment began to

build in the United States toward rec-ognizing Jerusalem as the capital ofIsrael. In 1995, the U.S. Congresspassed a law, the Jerusalem EmbassyAct. This law states that the UnitedStates Embassy in Israel had to bemoved to Jerusalem by no later thanMay 31, 1999. The Jerusalem

Embassy Act also stated that

During his election campaign, George W.Bush promised to move the U.S. Embassy in Tel

Aviv, shown above, to Jerusalem the day of his inauguration.That day has now come and

gone. In June, however, the issue will resurface. Bush will then have to decide whether he

will fulfill his pledge to enforce the Jerusalem Embassy Act passed by the U.S. Congress

in 1995.

Jerusalem should remain permanentlyunited. The Senate vote for this law was95-5 and the vote in the House ofRepresentatives was 374 to 37.

In 1992, Bill Clinton promised tomove the U.S. Embassy to Jerusalem, buthe never acted on the promise. Thatswhat motivated Congress to require the

move by law. Congress made the mis-take, however, of creating a loophole forthe President. It was called thePresidential Waiver. This loopholestated that the requirements of the

Jerusalem Embassy Act could be sus-pended for a period of six months if thePresident determined and reported toCongress in advance that such suspen-sion is necessary to protect the nationalsecurity interests of the United States.

President Clinton chose to use thiswaiver when the May 31, 1999 deadline

rolled around. He contended that mov-ing the embassy during sensitive peacenegotiations would upset everything.Thus, he concluded that it was not in thenational security interests of the U.S. toexecute the move. Clinton continued touse this argument each six-months untilthe end of his presidency.

June 2001the date to watchWhen asked recently about Bushs

promise to move the embassy, U.S.Secretary of State Colin Powell said,President George W. Bush is sticking byhis campaign promise to move the U.S.Embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to

Jerusalem, but the time hasnt beenright.

During his election campaign, Bushhad emphatically promised to move theembassy to Jerusalem the day of my in-auguration. Apparently, cooler, wiserheads have now tempered Bushs enthu-siasm for the move.

However, the moment of truth is just

around the corner. In June of this year,President George W. Bush will face a bigdecision. Will he follow in the footstepsof Bill Clinton, or will he enforce the lawof the United States of America? Wedont have long to wait before we see ifBush meant what he said about movingthe embassy or if this is just another readmy lips, no new taxes deception.

Why is this so important?Three thousand years ago, God

Since God declared that Jerusalem wasto be the capital of Israel and the placethat He chose to place His name, theUnited Nations finds itself in a very pre-carious position. To oppose Jerusalem as the capital ofthe nation of Israel is to incur the wrathof God. Not only will we be watching asPresident Bush makes his decision con-cerning recognizing Jerusalem as Israelscapital, but Almighty God Himself willalso be watchingvery closely.

Baxter: Shalom! What does thatmean?

Uri: It means The Temple Mount isin our hands! This has been the histori-cal and religious center and focus of the

Jewish people from the beginning. In1967, when the Jewish army liberated

Jerusalem and took control of it from theJordanians, the commander reportedback to headquarters. He said, TempleMount is in our hands.

After 2,000 years, Jews came back tothe center of their belief and of their his-tory. So when I answer the phone, Ha

yad vrabenu! I say it with a lot of senti-ment and feeling. We nearly lost theTemple Mount under the previous gov-ernment. For the first time in the history

of Israel and since 1967, an Israeli gov-ernment was ready to negotiate theTemple Mount and give it away to for-eigners! This was a regretful move done

Baxter: You know, Uri, I too wasshocked when I read that. I follow thosethings every day and have a very fond at-tachment for the people of Israel. Iunderstand fully that the Temple Mountis the center of Jewish life. Can you evengo today to the Temple Mount?

Uri: No. There are only certain placesJews can goto the Western Wall andthe Rabbinical Tunnel where one can

observe the remains of the temple thatwas destroyed some 2,000 years ago. Thesituation is delicate. Barak put theTemple Mount on the negotiating tablewithout even discussing it with his cabi-net! And he was negotiating it secretly.This is what brought his downfall. I amsorry for him. I know him personally. ButI am more sorry for our people who hadto come to the point where their govern-ment was bargaining away the future oftheir holiest site with foreigners as if itwere a piece of real estate.

Baxter: Up until five months ago, Jewsand non-Muslims could go onto theTemple Mount. However, since the AlAqsa Intifada broke out, they have to-tally closed it. Now only Muslims areallowed to go there. When Sharon formshis government and takes the reins asPrime Minister, will he reverse this situa-tion?

Uri: We should wait and see how

Ariel Sharon will act when it comes tothe Temple Mount. I will not make anyprejudgments. Right now Im writing abook about it. Sharons visit to theTemple Mount on September 28thbegan a sequence of events that, not onlybrought him to the top of the TempleMount, but to the top of the pyramid ofthe leadership of Israel. There was acountdown of 130 days. I kept a diary ofevery event. The book will be TempleMount in Our Hands, Part Two. Sharonchallenged Baraks policies by going

there and he launched a sequence ofevents, which brought down Barak andbrought up Sharon. One cannot turn hishead from those bare facts, whether youare religious or not religious.

Baxter: How religious is Ariel Sharon?

Uri: I have been with him at so manyevents. Ariel Sharon always says, whenhe talks to Jews and non-Jews alike,First of all, I am a Jew. He underlines it,representing the spirit and tradition ofthe Jews being proud to be a Jew. Hebelieves, and rightly so, in reestablishingthe Jewish state and the Jewish spirit and

tradition. After an exile of 2,000 years,one should keep that notion and under-line it.

Baxter: When Ariel Sharon wentonto the Temple Mount on September28th, he was apparently making a state-ment that Jewish people should beallowed to be there. So it seems to me,once he takes power he is going to openit back up for Jewish people and otherpeople to go onto the Mount. Is that afair assumption?

Uri: I will not go to any assumptions.As a journalist, as a writer, as someonewho has been following for many yearsthe important events in this country andall over the world, and being Jewish my-self, I am very attached to the dramathrough which we are living while tryingto defend the Jewish state. I have beenprivileged to be beside Ariel Sharon dur-ing many critical momentsincludingthe Yom Kippur War at the Suez Canalwhere he turned defeat into victory. I waswith him in the 50s when Sharon, as alieutenant, called the commander of theparatroopers to advise him on how tofight Palestinian terrorism even back

then.

Baxter: We are so interested when wethink of whats ahead for the nation ofIsrael. Many of us love Israel very much.

Uri: Thank you.

Baxter: We are anxious to know thedirection this government will take.Most people think that there will have tobe a unilateral separation before therecan be any security at all. Would you

agree with that assessment?

Uri: It is very hard to separate, or cre-ate any separation. For example, Jews areliving in Jerusalem, the united capital ofIsrael. Arabs, Palestinians are also livingthere. I will not commit myself to anymiraculous solution.

When Mr. Barak defeated Mr.Netanyahu, he tried to take these paths,but he never carried it out. He was look-ing for a solution to end the conflict. Hewanted to give Arafat most of East

Jerusalem except for the Jewish Quarterand some other little parts of the OldCity among the walls. He was going togive the Temple Mount to a third partyso Arafat would indirectly get officialcontrol of it. In response, Barak got awar!terror, bombs, shooting andkilling, just like is happening today near

Jerusalem by the Palestinians and orga-nized by Yasser Arafat. It is unbelievablewhat has been going on for the last fivemonths!

I covered the Camp David Summit.For two weeks President Clinton was try-ing to broker a deal between Barak andArafat. Barak came with all those con-cessions. I had to report about it to Israelinewspapers, and to theNew York Post. Icouldnt believe the reports in the begin-ning. It was a very tightly kept top secret.Some of his ministers didnt even know.And nobody would admit officially whatthey really offered. Surely, I thought, heis not committing himself to giving awaythe most sacred place for the Jews, theTemple Mount. It was hard for me to re-port this to my papers.

Ariel Sharon, head of the oppositionLikud Party, challenged this policy of se-crecy, of deceit, by going to the TempleMount to tell all the world that Israel issovereign over the Temple Mount. TheTemple Mount is in our hands!

Baxter: Back in 1981-82 when ArielSharon was ousted from the DefenseMinistry over the Sabra and Shatillamassacre, at that time you made an in-teresting statement: If you dont wantAriel Sharon as Defense Minister, some-day you will get him as Prime Minister.What prompted you to say that?

Uri: Ill tell you. I worked as an advisorto Ariel Sharon in the Defense Ministry.I had been with him during all the wars

of salvation for Israel, through whichYasser Arafat and 10,000 of his terroristswere expelled from Beirut. So I had seenthen what kind of evil had been done tothe State of Israel and to Sharon himselfwhen they attached to him that horribleblood libel accusation over the tragedy inSabra and Shatilla. This was whereLebanese Christian Arabs killed MuslimArabsthe Palestinians.

Remember, we came to Lebanon tosave Israel from the terrorism of YasserArafat, and at the same time, as a by-product, to help the Lebanese Christiansthere. Regretfully, the atrocities werepainful. But then because of political ri-valry and jealousy in Israel, a lynchatmosphere was created causing Sharon

to ultimately resign from the DefenseMinistry.A certain correspondent from theNew

York Times used to call me from time totime to ask me what was going on here inthe war or other affairs. I always told him,Here is the report; you can use it, butnever mention my name. But once I sawwhat was happening to Sharon becauseof that public, political lynch campaign,I said to the reporter, Can you do me afavor? Publish tomorrow in theNew YorkTimes, quoting me this time, the follow-

ing: I said back in 1973 that those whodidnt want Sharon as commander of thearmed forces in Israel will one day havehim as Defense Minister. Now I say,those who will not accept him as DefenseMinister, in due time, will have him asPrime Minister.

I was sure about it. And it was pub-lished. I couldnt count on the mostlyliberal, leftist press in Israel.

Baxter: Were you with Sharon inLebanon when all of this came down?

Uri: Yes. Absolutely.

Baxter: Did he know the massacre washappening or was this totally done with-

out his knowledge?

Uri: Totally without his knowledge.He was shocked when he heard about it.He was saddenedaggravated com-pletely. He didnt know anything. I stoodbeside him. He sued Time magazine inthe United States for libel. Time had de-cided that Sharon instigated this horribletragedy. I helped him voluntarily during23 months of legal battles, 4-5 months ofit in New York in Federal Court. An or-dinary American jury found for Sharon,

that he was libeled and that Time wasguilty of defamation of character. Timeknowingly published a lie about him. Itwas reckless reporting. This was thegreatest victory for truth.

Baxter: It was quite a shocking thingfor Barak to win the Prime Ministry by

12% in the spring of 1999, which was atthat time a record margin. Then, a mere20 months later, the electorate swingsand Barak loses by 25%, twice the recordmargin he had won by. It was like a hugeswinging of a pendulum! Something dra-matic must have happened to cause thishuge shift in the electorate in Israel.What was it?

Uri: It was not only a landslide. It wasan earthquake. And the earthquakewent into the heart of the Jews in this

country. I am speaking about the Jews,because most of the Israeli Arabs boy-cotted the election. Many Jews felt thattheir national security and personal secu-rity was in very serious danger. They hadbeen led to believe that peace was athand for more than 7 years, especiallyunder Barak, who had been workingovertime with his illusionist ForeignMinister Shlomo Ben Ami and theMinister of Justice Yossi Beilin. Theytold the people all the time, Peace is athand. But then suddenly, instead, theyget war, daily terrorism and killing by thePalestinians, like the exploding inHadera, Natanya, in Jerusalem, shootingon the roads So therefore, the Jewsturned to someone who they believedthey could count on. This is the meaningof this historical vote. We count on you,Ariel Sharon. Yes, we know that youwere slandered. We know what the op-position and jealous politicians weredoing to you. We want you. We donttrust them anymore.

When I said so many years ago that, ifyou dont want Ariel Sharon as DefenseMinister, you will eventually get him asPrime Minister, I knew that ArielSharon is, first and foremost, a bornleader. I was with him on the battlefieldwhere a person comes up in the brightestand most cruel lightthe light of bombs,of shells, of fire. You have to defend yourpeople. There I have seen him, 26 yearsold, commander of the paratroopers, andlater at 45 years old crossing the SuezCanal in the Yom Kippur War. He be-

haved as a leader, facing impossible mis-sionsimpossible as regarded by the

others, not by him. To cross the canal inthose days in 1973it looked like a mis-sion impossible. And then heres thisyoung manI was with him in the samearmored personnel carrier day and nightfrom the 6th of October on, when we leftBeersheba to go to the canal. Thatswhere he turned defeat into victory. AndI saw this unbelievable leader of the Jewsbeing treated so maliciously in 1983.When he was removed from the DefenseMinistry, I knew, regretfully, that the sit-uation in Israel would deteriorate to such

a point, like where we are now. The situ-ation would create the need for a man

like Sharon. Thank God he is stillaround.

Baxter: This is a time somewhat like1973 when Israel was teetering on thebrink of defeat because of some very badpolicies and bad judgments.

Uri: Absolutely. Sharon was a ReserveGeneral Commander of a reserve ar-mored division. I was with him in hismilitary apartment in Beersheba just be-fore we went to the front. Lilly, his late,

loving wife, was going around verycalmly away from his eyes, because herswere full of tears. She knew he was goingto the front line. His two boys were stillsmall, playing around, not understandingwhat was going on. Their father wasgoing to fight and to defend the Jews in aterrible war. I asked him before we left his

kitchenit was 7pm on Yom Kippur1973, Ariel, where are we heading to?He said, Do you have any questionabout where this war will be finished?Only on the other side of the canal. Ishiver when I remember those words. Iremember the next two weeks of the ter-rible battle before crossing the canal, andthen after.

I have seen himhow he treats hissoldiers with such care. He is an extraor-dinary human beingvery warm,understanding of the fears of the battle-

field, the fears of the soldiers, the pain ofour friends who were killed and woundedand burned in that horrible battle. Yet allthe time he was giving orders, optimistic a ray of light in this valley of death.And he was changing defeat into victoryby creating the bridgehead on the SuezCanal, crossing to the other side behindthe Egyptians.

Four years later, when PresidentAnwar Sadat arrived at Ben GurionAirport, the first question he put to thelate Prime Minister Menachem Beginwas, Is also General Sharon presenthere? Everyone heard him because itwas satellite broadcasted. Ariel Sharonwas Minister of Agriculture in the gov-ernment. We stood there. And in thathistoric moment, Mr. Begin said, Yes.And he moved him to where Sharonwas. President Sadat tells him, I wantedto capture you there on the Canal, re-ferring to when Sharon brilliantlyoutmaneuvered the Egyptian divisions.Mr. Sharon responded, Well, you can

capture me now in peace, Mr. President.I went with Sharon on May 19, 1981,as guest of Anwar Sadat to his palace inCairo. This time we crossed the Canaland Sinai Desert in peace in a boat car-rying watermelons. Sadat was thereelegantly dressed. Sharon was in civilianoutfit, elegant, sitting and facing him.Sadat asked a young officer to bring amap of Egypt. Sadat went on his knees tolook at the southern part of Egypt, andSharon followed him. This is the placewhere I want you to help me to develop

agriculture, near the desert.Sharon tells him, Okay, I am ready to

help Egypt to develop agriculture.

Baxter: I remember reading about thatstory in Sharons autobiography, Warrior.Sharon has been painted as such a war-monger, and yet the story you are sharingtells us there is a lot more to ArielSharon.

Uri: He has been demonized by his ri-vals and by an ignorant press. You know,I dont even want to look for reasons for

the slandering that has been done tohim. He is too good to be true.

Baxter: Sharon had a plan when heheaded for the front in the Yom KippurWar. Now here he is again. Israel is in cri-sis. Does he already know what his planis? Im not asking you to divulge it, be-cause I know you cannot do that. But ishe the type person who thinks ahead andalready knows what he intends to do totry to resolve some of these difficultiesthat Israel is facing right now?

Uri: No doubt. Ariel Sharon is a manof surprises when it comes to difficult sit-uations; when it comes to situations thatare regarded as helpless by others. He wassaying yes to Ben Gurion when therewere very difficult missions in the War ofIndependence. He was saying yes toBegin when they wanted to build andsettle Judea and Samaria, changing themap of Israel. Those beautiful settle-ments are what he calls the modernpioneers of the State of Israel. It wasdone under very difficult conditions be-cause of Jews from within who were

fighting, not believing in the Zionist ideaof first settling the country. And then hesaid yes to Begin to help him make thedecision to destroy Saddam Husseins nu-clear reactor in Baghdad on June 19,1981. At the time, he was Minister ofAgriculture and part of the DefenseMinisterial Special Cabinet.

After we bombed Baghdad, the U.S.immediately sanctioned Israel throughCasper Weinberger. Later they learnedthey were wrong and removed the sanc-tions. Try to imagine for a moment

The China Conflict is the800-lb. gorilla sitting in themiddle of the worlds livingroom that simply cannot beignored. The prophecy of

Brief historyAt the end of World War II, Chinese

leader Chiang Kai-Shek was asked byGeneral Douglas MacArthur to occupythe Island of Taiwan for the AlliedForces. Taiwan had been controlled bythe Japanese since 1895.

Chiang Kai-Shek moved into Taiwan

in 1945. Four years later, Communistrevolutionaries swept through MainlandChina, defeating Chiang Kai-Shek andthe Chinese government. This forcedChiang Kai-Shek to flee to Taiwan. Thefree Chinese government hoped to useTaiwan as a base until the day they couldreinvade the mainland and drive theCommunists out of China.

The Communists wanted to somedayconquer the forces of Chiang Kai-Shekand the Island of Taiwan, eradicating thepossibility that the communist dictator-

ship would be overthrown.Over the last 56 years, Taiwan has be-

come a democratic nation and nowboasts the worlds 18th largest economy.China has 1.3 billion people and is ex-pected by many to dominate the worldduring the 21st Century.

While recognizing the so-called OneChina Policy, which states that China

and Taiwan should someday becomeone, the United States has stated thatunification should only be achieved bymutual agreement and not by force.Because of continued threats byMainland China against Taiwan,America passed the Taiwan RelationsAct in 1979. This law states that theU.S. should supply whatever arms are

needed by Taiwan in order to adequatelydefend herself against any exteriorthreat. The whole world knows that thethreat mentioned in the TaiwanRelations Act refers directly to MainlandChina.

When China threatened war in 1996,because Taiwan was holding her first de-

mocratic elections, the United Statesmoved its Seventh Fleet into the Straitsof Taiwan blocking any military inten-tions that China had. Since that time,China has stated repeatedly that, ifTaiwan did not submit to the control ofthe Mainland, there was going to be war.

In August of 1999, China issued aWhite Paper to its military leaders in-structing them to prepare the forcesunder their commands for war withTaiwan and the United States. TheWhite Paper stated that the anticipated

conflict would likely include nuclear ex-changes.

In the meantime, China was buildingup its military capability as fast as possi-ble. In September of 1999, it wasannounced that China was buying twonuclear submarines that could hit targetsseveral thousand miles away. In Februaryof 2000, China took delivery from Russiaof a nuclear equipped Sovremenny shipcapable of sinking the largest aircraft car-riers in the Seventh Fleet. In Novemberof 2000, China received the secondSovremenny from Russia.

Taiwans second democratic electionswere to be held in March of 2000. Thepolls showed that the DemocraticPeoples Party (DPP) and its leader ChenShui-bian might win the elections. TheDPP openly advocated total indepen-dence from the Mainland. Chinasgovernmental officials declared loudlythat, if the DPP were elected by the peo-ple of Taiwan, it would mean war.Taiwan elected Chen Shui-bian anyway.

Things became so tense in the regionthat the U.S. once again moved itsSeventh Fleet into the area. Statementswere issued by the United States, warn-ing that military action against Taiwanwould not be tolerated.

Where are things right now?Zhou Mingwei, vice minister of

Chinas Taiwan Affairs Office, visited thenew Bush administration around the firstof March of this year. Zhou stunnedacademics during a stopover in New York

with his hard-line comments on Taiwan.He was quoted by the Chinese pressagency Xinhua as saying the only alter-native to unification (between Chinaand Taiwan) is war.

On March 7th, U.S. Secretary ofState Colin Powell countered with awarning that military action against

Taiwan by China would not be tolerated.We strongly believe that Taiwan is athriving democracy, and under no cir-cumstances will we ever tolerateanything that changes the status ofTaiwan unless it is being changed as a re-sult of open, free, balanced negotiationsbetween the two parties, Powell said.

Heightening tensions in the alreadydangerous atmosphere, China recentlyannounced that she will increase militaryspending this year by a huge 17%.

Probably the most ominous develop-

ment in the China-Taiwan-U.S. disputewas the recent theft of the computercodes that control U.S. missile guidancesystems. The story broke on March 2ndand was carried by American Freedom

News: Computer experts raided the of-fices of an IT company in Stockholm lastmonth. They found a copy of the sourcecodes for the software programOS/COMETDeveloped by the U.S.Air Force, OS/MET was deployed on the

NAVSTAR GPS monitoring station inColorado Springs. Intelligence officialsbelieve the source code theft was carriedout over the Internet on Christmas Evelast year from the U.S. Naval ResearchLaboratory in Washington, D.C. Thetheft was first detected by the military onDecember 27, 2000.

China had previously announced thatshe is placing high priority on cyber war-fare. If U.S. high-tech weapons havebeen neutralized, then China should beable to fight the U.S. from an equal foot-ing.

There is no proof that China was be-hind the theft of the U.S. guidancesystems computer codes, but there is alsono proof that she was not. Just the possi-bility that our guidance system codes arenow in Chinese hands is ominous in-deed!

April 2000Critical decisionPresident George W. Bush must decide

in April how to respond to a shoppinglist of high-technology weaponry re-quested by Taiwan, including the Aegis

and Patriot missile defense systems.Taiwan insists that, due to Chinas con-tinuing military escalation, the requestednew weaponry is essential.

On the other hand, China is adamantthat the sale of high-tech weapons toTaiwan is fanning the flames of war.Urging Washington to rein-in its wild

horse at the edge of the cliff, Chinasforeign minister, Tang Jiaxuan, on March6th issued one of the strongest warningsyet over U.S. sales of advanced weaponsto Taiwan. The United States shouldcome to a recognition of the serious dan-gers involved, Tang said.

So what do we do?Any thinking person has to shudder

when considering the horrific implica-tions of the China War prophecy. Twobillion dead? Unthinkable! Yet it is going

to happen! The prophecy stares back atus from the pages of Revelation 9:15,And the four angels were loosed, whichwere prepared for an hour, and a day, anda month, and a year, for to slay the thirdpart of men.

So what do we do? We know that itshighly likely that the U.S. will be in-volved in the coming conflagration.Could this result in relatively minordamage to the U.S., or it could meantotal annihilation? turn to God. The spiritual awakeningthat will be generated by this unprece-dented prophetic fulfillment willaccelerate as events develop and theconflict looms on the immediate hori-zon. Lutherans Consider Pope asUniversal Christian Spokesman

One generation ago, Protestants inGermany regarded the pope as theAntichrist. Today, Lutheran bishops inGermany are seriously debating whetherthe pope could act as a universally ac-cepted spokesman for all Christianity.

The presiding bishop of the UnitedEvangelical Lutheran Church, HansChristian Knuth, suggests thatProtestants might recognize the pope inthis capacity. The sentiment was echoedby a Bavarian bishop who overseesLutheran-Catholic relations. Not every-

one in the denomination feels it is a goodidea. But the fact that it can even be con-sidered reflects the signs of the times.

One church leader against the idea isIshmael Noko. One cannot disassociatehis spiritual role from his place as primateof the Roman Catholic episcopate. But,he continued, does globalization reallycall for a global spokesman for allChristians?

Catholics say yes. Lutherans are, amaz-ingly, undecided.

The Bible prophesies an endtime falseprophet who will claim to speak forChristians as well as the other worldfaiths who acknowledge that all religionsare valid pathways to God. That personis prophesied to be whoever is pope ofthe Roman Catholic Church at the timeof the Antichrist.

As a global airline, Delta knows theimportance of intercultural understand-

ing and is proud to recognize PresidentGorbachev for his efforts to foster peaceand promote environmental protectionaround the world, said Delta Airlines of-ficial Frederick Reid, as he announcedthe winner of this years Delta Prize forGlobal Understanding.

The prize is administered by theUniversity of Georgia. According to uni-versity spokesman Gary Bertsch, The($890,000) prize was established tohonor individuals or groups that success-fully promote peaceful solutions to

intercultural conflicts. PresidentGorbachev is a living symbol of peaceful

change and understanding.According to Pope John Paul II andDr. Robert Schuller, among others,Gorbachev is a Christian. According tothe prophecies of the Bible, this sameman meets many criteria of a futureworld leader who will deceive his wayinto power on a platform of peace.Daniel 7:7 speaks of the Antichrist as aman who will have great iron teeth.When Soviet Foreign Minister AndreiGromyko introduced Gorbachev to thePolitburo in 1985 as the new President,

This action, however, is in conflict

This UN action is being hailed bymany as a victory for humanity andglobal governance, and another empow-ering step toward the establishment of abona fide world government.

Mideast Was on Brink of WarIn response to U.S. air strikes on key

positions in Baghdad on February 16,Saddam Hussein deployed thousands oftroops to positions near the Jordanianborder. The act triggered military alertsin Tel Aviv, Washington and in severalGulf nation capitals. Answering themove, Israeli air force jets flew towardSyria, while U.S. and British planes hitIraqi targets. Hussein halted his troop

movements. This all took place whileColin Powell was in Israel. It appears weare dealing with a man, said a U.S. de-fense spokesman, who is not afraid andcould act on moments notice.

Growth of the biometric industry is ofspecial interest to Bible students in lightof Revelation 13:16-18. A global eco-nomic system is soon coming that will

require everyone on earth to take somesort of identifying mark without which aperson will be unable to buy or sell.

Environmentalists Still WinningPR Battle

Global warming was high on theagenda at the recent G-8 meeting inItaly. Environment ministers from theseven most industrialized nations in theworld, plus Russia, renewed their unifiedeffort to combat global warming. Aspokesman for the G-8 hailed the discus-sion as a strong political message.Greenpeace did not feel they went farenough. The World Wildlife Fund con-cluded that the Bush administration nowhas no choice but to follow through.

Anti-globalism groups, such asSovereignty International, claim theissue of global warming has been fabri-cated and that scientific evidence, inactuality, refutes the popularly held con-clusions.
