Renewable EnergyRenewable energy can be generatedcontinuously practically without decay of source. E.g.-Solar EnergyWind Energy
Geothermal EnergyHydro Energy

Solar EnergySolar energy can be converted into electricalenergy by using solar panels, or alternatively,be used as thermal energy using solar waterheaters, solar cookers etc.

Wind EnergyIndia is world s third largest producer of electricity generation using wind power bywind mills.

7/40
Geothermal EnergyA lot of energy exists inside earth crust.Natural hot water springs are a good source of getting such energy.
8/6/2019 Energy Conservation New
8/40
Hydro EnergyUsing dams, water is allowed to pass throughturbine blades, which produces electricity. InIndia, after coal, most of the energy isproduced by this method.

Non Renewable EnergyNon renewable energy cannot be generatedagain and again, e.g. energy generated fromcombustion of fossil fuels, energy from coaland gas etc.

WHY TO CONSERVE?
8/6/2019 Energy Conservation New
18/40
Why to Conserve? We have limited fuels available on earth. Our demand for energy is increasing day-by-day.It is possible that someday, most of fuels willbe exhausted, and we will have to switch overto alternate energy.

WHY ENERGY EFFICIENCY?
Country facing power shortagesPeak Shortage 13%
Average Shortage 8%
Additional power required by 2012, 1 lakh MW Approximately 8,00,000 crores investmentIndias energy Intensive for unit of GDP ishigher by 3.7 times of Japan, 1.48 times of Asia& 1.5 times of USAH igher wastage of energy.Very high energy saving potential.

EFFECTS ON AIR
Air QualitySmog
NOx and SOxIn the United States, about 2/3 of all
sulfur dioxide and of all nitrogenoxide comes from electric powergeneration that relies on burningfossil fuels like coal
Particulate MatterA mixture of particles that canadversely affect health
ToxinsArsenic and Mercury

What Does the World Look Like with GlobalWarming?
One study suggests that with minimal climatewarming,18% of the species studied would becomeextinct; with moderate climate warming, about 25%would become extinct; and with maximum warming, 35%
would become extinct 1The climate of Greenland may warm enough during thenext few centuries to eventually eliminate the Greenlandice sheet, raising sea level by 7 meters (23 feet) 2Sea ice cover in the Arctic is declining by 9 percent per
decade 3The number of Category 4 and 5 hurricanes hasincreased by 80 percent worldwide during the past 35years 4

Recycling is an excellent way of saving energyand conserving the environment.
Did you know that:1 recycled tin can would save enough energy to
power a television for 3 hours.
1 recycled glass bottle would save enough energyto power a computer for 25 minutes.
1 recycled plastic bottle would save enough energy
to power a 60-watt light bulb for 3 hours.70% less energy is required to recycle paper
compared with making it from raw materials.

You can directly contribute by
1. By switching of lights when not required.2. Using refills instead of buying a new pen.3. Buying materials in bulk/without packing4. By growing plants.5. By being vegetarian also you save energy6. By encouraging foods made of jowar, bajra,
instead of rice.7. By not wasting food.8. By using CFL bulbs or tubes.

2. DIGITAL CAMERAS3. LCD MONITORS
4. LNG OR CNG OR HYBRID OR ELECTRIC VEHICLES5. MECHANICAL PENCILS6. RECYCLED PAPER FOLDERS/PRODUCTS
7. OIL LAMPS INSTEAD OF WAX CANDLES8. COPPER BOTTOMED STAINLESS STEEL UTENSILS

Water is precious - it's a miracleWater is precious - it's life
Water is precious - let's keep it cleanWater is our most precious drinkWater is our treasure Lets preserve itWater is healing
People use water in many differentways, we need it to survive, and if it
wasnt for the water cycle cyclingthrough, we probably wouldnt exist .

Turn off tap while cleaning your teeth, shaving or washing your face. You can waste can up to 9 litres aminute by just letting the water pour down the sink.
Take a short shower rather than a bath could save you upto 400 litres a week. If you do have baths, just half fillthem .
Only use the washing machine and the dishwasher when you can put on a full load. It wastes both water and energy to run only a half full machine

Use a broom and bucket of water for washing down the patiorather than a steady flow of water from the hose.
Use a sponge and bucket of water to clean
your car or if you use the hose, ensure youuse a shut off nozzle so the water is notconstantly running.
Fix any dripping tap, you can waste 90 litres a week

Humankind has not woven the web of life. Weare but one thread within it. Whatever we do tothe web, we do to ourselves. All things are boundtogether. All things connect. ~Chief Seattle,1855
