The U.S. Department of Labor projects a bright outlook for workers in energy efficiency. • The growth of commercial energy efficiency projects is creating long-term demand for energy analysts in Connecticut and throughout the region. Recent state legislation is driving growth. Unlike traditional construction jobs, building energy jobs are considered recession-resilient. Major cities such as Boston and New York now require building owners to regularly perform energy analysis and energy improvements on their buildings. These laws are creating more job opportunities. Hands-on ExperienceUsing the campus as a “living laboratory,” students will gain hands-on experience touring mechanical rooms, and performing energy analysis on actual campus building systems.

Job Placement Assistance During their final semester, students earn three credits in a career-related internship with a local energy company.

Career CertificatesEnergy Core – The basic program courses you need to advance into any of the other five stackable energy certificates.

HVAC Energy Analysis – Energy use and energy savings opportunities in HVAC systems of commercial buildings.

HVAC Energy Controls – Study types of HVAC controls and complete your own energy savings project. Energy Accounting – Computer energy modeling, energy benchmarking and identifying energy investment alternatives.

Energy Efficient Lighting – Gain the skills you need to audit and calculate retrofit costs and benefits.

Commercial Energy Auditing & Modeling – Builds on the HVAC Energy Analysis certificate and prepares you to implement an actual building energy study.
