Activity: You are going to go around the room and gather information about disruption to energy pathways to fill in your A3 sheets.

Use the sources on each station to get down as much detail as possible

Russian Energy Giants –

- Accounts for 92% of Russia’s gas production

- Is the sole gas supplier to several European countries including Latvia, Estonia, Finland, Moldova.

- Annual earnings of £31.55 billion

- Russian government still owns 50.002% of the shares.

Quiz Quiz TradeGet up and go and find somebody else in the room. Ask them your question and they must try and answer. Then they ask you your question and you try and answer. When you are finished swap questions and go and find somebody else and repeat!

Read the article and highlight all the ways in which Europe is trying to increase energy security given the fact the Russian gas supply is unstable.

Then stick in book.

How can we maintain energy security and reduce reliance on Russia?

What is Fair Trade?

“Fairtrade is a strategy for poverty alleviation and sustainable development. Its purpose is to create opportunities for producers and workers who have been economically disadvantaged or marginalized by the conventional trading system. If fair access to markets under better trade conditions would help them to overcome barriers to development, they can join Fairtrade.”

What are the key words in this statement?

Fair trade prize competition:

Think of as many FairTrade products as you can. It’s Fair Trade fortnight, so hopefully you’ve seen lots around!

- Work in pairs or on your own (if you work in a pair, be prepared to split the prize!)

- You cannot just name things that are edible- You cannot name more than 2 fruits

Random name generator will be used to select a person in the class. If they can name 5 products they win the prize. If they can’t, we pick another name until someone can!
