These reports should help parents gain a beer understanding of how their child is progressing at school; the areas in which they are making progress, those which might require further aenon and what the next steps in their individual learning journey might be. The construcon and development of these reports requires a significant amount of work from teachers. It is far more than wring a comment or entering some dots on a scale. Teachers need to collect and analyse a wide range of data to make sure that they have a clear and accurate understanding of the progress each child. They need to work with colleagues to make sure that they have interpreted this informaon accurately and then write this in a clear and concise language that communicates this informaon effecvely to parents. This year our teachers, and parcularly our Leadership team have been working hard to redevelop and improve the structure of our reports. Our goal is to make sure we communicate with parents more effecvely and create reports that parents can easily understand and idenfy how their child is progressing. A crical part of this process is our parent-teacher meengs. This is our chance to have a face-to-face meeng with parents and explain the details of the report, parcularly in reference to the samples of work included in your childs Learning Journal. I have noced that not all parents or caregivers make a me to meet with the teacher. It is however, important that you do so. I would indeed go so far as to say that this is an expectaon that we as a school have of our parents. Without this opportunity to meet, it is far more difficult to communicate with parents and develop a partnership between the home and school. We are strongly requesng that you make a me to meet with your childs teacher on June 24 & 25 from 3.30 to 6.00pm. If you are not able to make an appointment at this me, please make every effort to make an alternate me at the beginning of next term. God bless. Dear Parents and Caregivers

In the next few weeks, parents and caregivers will be receiving their end of semester reports. These reports should help parents gain a better understanding of how their child is progressing at school; the areas in which they are making progress, those which might require further attention and what the next steps in their individual learning journey might be.

The construction and development of these reports requires a significant amount of work from teachers. It is far more than writing a comment or entering some dots on a scale. Teachers need to collect and analyse a wide range of data to make sure that they have a clear and accurate understanding of the progress each child. They need to work with colleagues to make sure that they have interpreted this information accurately and then write this in a clear and concise language that communicates this information effectively to parents.

This year our teachers, and particularly our Leadership team have been working hard to redevelop and improve the structure of our reports. Our goal is to make sure we communicate with parents more effectively and create reports that parents can easily understand and identify how their child is progressing. A critical part of this process is our parent-teacher meetings. This is our chance to have a face-to-face meeting with parents and explain the details of the report, particularly in reference to the samples of work included in your child’s Learning Journal.

I have noticed that not all parents or caregivers make a time to meet with the teacher. It is however, important that you do so. I would indeed go so far as to say that this is an expectation that we as a school have of our parents. Without this opportunity to meet, it is far more difficult to communicate with parents and develop a partnership between the home and school. We are strongly requesting that you make a time to meet with your child’s teacher on June 24 & 25 from 3.30 to 6.00pm. If you are not able to make an appointment at this time, please make every effort to make an alternate time at the beginning of next term. God bless.

St Mary’s Community Freezer

A vital part of St. Mary’s school culture is looking out for one another. We do that in many ways - a quick chat, a warm smile and a meal in a freezer ready to delivery for those who find themselves in a position of need.

We have a freezer at the school that is used to store meals made by families and then shared with others who need a little helping hand. Meals such as lasagnes, cas-seroles, soups, pasta bakes, cakes and biscuits are all very suitable.

If you would like to help out, please donate your dish/meal

to the office or a staff member with a label clearly stating the date you made it, and a list of all the ingredients. We do have members of our community who suffer from certain allergies, so clearly marked meals make it easier for delivery.

So if anyone can find time to make an extra couple of servings while making your evening meal and bring it to the school – that would be most appreciated.

Many thanks!
