  • Since MoTeC was founded in1987, the concept has beensimple: build a business on thebasis of providing qualityproducts and services using thelatest technology available. Thisphilosophy of providing the bestpossible solutions, based onpowerful hardware and easy touse software, has lead to MoTeC’sgreat successes, worldwide.

MoTeC combines innovativeproduct designs with anoutstanding package of totalcustomer support and anexceptional two year productwarranty. This has made MoTeCone of the world’s leadingproviders of Engine Managementand Data Acquisition systems.

The main function of a prog-rammable Engine ManagementSystem/ Engine Control Unit (ECU)is to provide full control of theengine over all possible ranges ofoperating conditions. At any givenpoint (load/rpm site) the user is able

to precisely set the amountof fuel injected and theoptimum ignition timing.

The number of sites overwhich the engine is tunedcan also be chosen, allowing extra sites forfine-tuning in certain areas(if required).

It does this by takingmeasurements from anumber of sensors, thenuses the calibration data to

make compensations to the basicengine map based on currentoperating conditions.

    ENGINE MANAGEMENT

The M800 offers the next generation in Engine Management Systems. Thissystem has been developed through rigorous research and practical field-testing. The M800 retains all the best features of our previous ECUs, whileoffering a combination of unsurpassed power and flexibility.

    m800 ENGINE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

    • Upgraded microprocessor and memory accelerates overall speed.

    • A new generation time co-processorenhances control of Fuel and Ignition

    • Leading edge processor means datacan be logged at up to 200 samplesper second.

    faster.• Compact and lightweight,

    only 500 grams.

    • Only half the weight andhalf the size of the previousgeneration ECU.

smaller.• A digital triggering system that is

customisable and programmableto suit any engine and includessophisticated diagnostics thatmonitor the quality of trigger signals.

    • The M800 talks to most existingsensors within your vehicle, savingcostly additions of new sensors.

    better.

    The M800features a 60 pin connector

DIGITAL TRIGGERING SYSTEMFlexibility – Programmable Trigger Levels: The DTS gives greater flexibility allowing the exact trigger levels to be setto suit the trigger sensor system. This ensures maximum compatibility with the trigger sensors.

Improved Noise Rejection – Programmable Filter Characteristics: Programmable filter characteristics allow the noisefilter characteristics to be adjusted to suit the sensor system which gives improved noise rejection. This ensures theintegrity of the trigger signals even in the most noisy environments.

Advanced Diagnostics: The DTS continuously monitors the quality of the trigger sensor signals and will give a warningif the quality of the signal is poor allowing trigger system problems to be rectified before they cause an operationalproblem.

Accuracy: Precision timing accuracy due to true zero crossing detection for magnetic trigger sensors.

  • m800 SOFTWARE

The M800 software has beendesigned with an emphasis onuseability, which enables you toquickly optimise the setup of yourvehicle. It is both user friendly forthe beginner and a powerful tool forexperts. All software is menu drivenand has extensive help screens.

    The key software is:

ECU Manager Tuning SoftwareThe ECU Manager software isdesigned for setup, tuning anddiagnostics of the M800. Tuningmay be done on-line (with the ECUconnected) or offline. The ECUManager software allows viewing

of all sensor readings, outputsettings, status reading, compensations and diagnosticerrors.Other features include:Quick Lambda (automatedfuel adjustment), 3Dgraphing of calibrationtables, site target, outputtesting, files comparison, user definable screenlayouts, table inter-polation,table export, tablemathematics and on-line help.

Interpret - AnalysisThe Interpret software providesadvanced tools to assist inanalysing the logged data quicklyand efficiently. Data can becollected from M800’s internal logmemory, by telemetry, or by directconnection to a PC. The informationcontained within the log files can beviewed numerically or graphically.

LoggingGives you access to continuousrecording of the operatingparameters of the engine andvehicle including diagnostic features.

Pro AnalysisEnables advanced data analysiswith Multiple Graph Overlays, XYPlots, Maths Functions, VirtualInstrument Display and Track Maps.

    Wideband Lambda(air fuel ratio)

Allows the use of NTK UEGO orBosch LSU high accuracyWideband Lambda sensors.

TelemetryEnables the transmission of datafrom the M800, whilst in operation,to another point (e.g. the pits) inreal time.

The M800 has various options which are field upgradable using a password and enabling system. Upgrade options include:

    INDIVIDUAL CURRENT SETTING OF INJECTORS

The current drive characteristics of each injector output is individually programmable. This allowsdifferent types of injectors to be used in Hi/Lo injector applications.

    DIAGNOSTICS MONITORING SYSTEM

The diagnostics monitoring system monitors all aspects of the ECU operation, including:Advanced diagnostics on the Digital Trigger System.Open Circuit and Short circuit detection on the Injector, Ignition and Auxiliary Outputs.Sensor fault detection on the sensor inputs. This system helps to identify many of the wiring and sensor faults that may occur during operation allowingproblems to be fixed quickly, particularly when combined with the ECU’s powerful data logging system.
