INTRODUCTION
Not all engine repair operations require engine removal.
The engine must be removed when performing a complete rebuild.
Most cars are FWD. Most trucks are RWD. Completely disassembly after
removal.

PREPARING the ENGINE for REMOVAL
Develop a plan for removing the engine.
Determine what tools are needed. Study recommended procedure. Position chain directly over center
of engine. Disconnect Battery. See caution.

Take pictures. Mark hoses. Mark brackets. Drain all Fluids from engine, keep
separate. Freon must be reclaimed. Remove all accessories from engine.

Protect paint and finish of the vehicle. Protect radiator and/or condenser. Support the transmission/transaxle. Remove engine from above if possible. Use factory lift points. Fig P7-2, p157
